Thanks Gareth, that makes a lot more sense. Stupid herald.

The price isn't the issue Russell (not that I have the budget to be an early adoptor), but there's no way in hell I'll swap to Telecom for the TIVO service.
Hell, all I'd want via my ISP is the damn EPG, downloadable content isn't that appealing.

Off topic for today's post (but not for PA as a whole). Looks like Tivo doesn't want my money. What an utter disappointment.

Yep, that Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams Boston Lager were my drops of choice when I was in the USA. I see Sam Adams won an award, from the story - can you even buy it here?
It was available 5 or so years back at some Foodtows, I think, but haven't seen it around in a long time.

I remember the hype of telethon back in the 70s when I was at primary. My kids, now at primary themselves, are marginally aware of the upcoming telethon, but only because they're seen the promos on TV. The school isn't getting involved in fundraising for it, and certainly no school trips to the studios organised.
I assume, and can't say I disagree, that if the kids are going to fundraise, the money could be pretty well utilised around the school itself.
Does anyone know of any school / organisation that is fundraising? The old Lions vs. Rotary thing? Anything?
And my favourite cover of the week... Coldplay paying tribute to the absent Beastie Boys from the All Points West festival:
Jay-Z replaced the Beasties on the bill;

I'm a huge fan of Makana Chocolate(s) in Blenheim (they also have a shop in Northland I believe). Expensive, but oh so delicious.
Last night I watched that Macca concert that was linked to earlier. So good, but it also made me sad at the same time for the loss of Harrison and Lennon.
And in a tangentally related bit, my favourite YouTube star - comedian / Impersonanator Steve Riks has had his Youtube account suspended for reasons unknown.
He started a secondary account, but it only has a few of his impersonations up. Here Paul McCartney makes a cup of tea;
He seems to have kept his covers off the new account, but they can be seen elsewhere:
And here's a link to more. Top stuff, only his Freddie Mercury misses the mark, imo. -
I'm sure there will be more on the media circus, but the Daily Show piece was very restrained, and (as usual) hit the mark.

Reports are AEG have a full live rehearsal 'concert' for the London dates shot in HD and in the can...
Michael Jackson's final rehearsal for his London concert tour was recorded in high definition video and audio on the eve of his death -- and could be released as the King of Pop's final album, sources said Sunday.
The rehearsals at the Staples Center in Los Angeles were taped by concert promotion company AEG Live to produce an album and DVD of what Jackson had billed his "final performance" tour called "This Is It," according to Sharon Waxman of the Hollywood blog TheWrap.com.
One AEG official boasted to a colleague this weekend, "We have a live album in the can," Waxman writes.
Jackson had failed to appear at many of the scheduled rehearsals in Los Angeles over the past two months, but he was there for an "electric" full rehearsal on the night before his death. -
If Sony had paid off the doctor, you can bet they would have got the rights for the unreleased songs first. ;-)
Will be interesting, though, to see what label they are eventually released on.

I'm starting to think Sony/BMG paid off the doctor.
Sony bought out BMG last year. it's back to plain old Sony Music again.
