    What’s a lickspittle?

    An arse-kisser in polite society.

So why don't they call him an arse-kisser then...?

And my point is that why should Stanford get all the attention / blame over this?

If I knew how to embed vids I would. There is no outward sign of coercion whatsoever.

I live in a predominantly National part of a safe Labour electorate.

The sitting MP has refused to take part in the 2 debates held there.

And I think that really stinks (not saying it wouldn’t happen the other way around the country either)

I hear you John, but I’d have thought she’d have tried that last night.

Instead she channelled John Key channelling Peter Dunne.

BTW, I don’t think the venom around the blogosphere will die down until after the next election in May 09.

  • Hard News: Granny for Sale,

What makes you think tomorrow night’s debate will be any less stale and choreographed than the rest of them?

That’s the problem with the 2 main parties falling over themselves to capture the middle ground.

Also if I recall correctly, this isn't Jones's first foray into politics. Didn't he back one of the christian parties for a while?

Yup; can’t remember which one though (and there have been so many)

Pretty sure this is the first time he’s endorsed a mainstream party though.

No, Laidlaw was Labour, beating Denis Welsh (ex-Listener) of the Alliance in the by-election.

Ken Grey won the nomination for a safe Labour seat, so it’s reasonable to count him too.

  • Hard News: God's squads,

And Labour had Chris Laidlaw and the late Ken Grey (sadly never got to make it to parliament)

And NZ First had Tu Wylie.

Ex rugby players reasonably evenly distributed I’d have thought.
