Wheel low-lifes…
Secure racks in the central city were the biggest problem I had in Christchurch
I’ve lost a couple of bikes over the years
to ‘people’ with bolt cutters, …sigh.
Wheel world solutions……back in the ’70s the PYM (Progressive Youth Movement) suggested a free white bike scheme for Christchurch (see page 54 of file /44 of book) based on one that originated with the Provos in Amsterdam – they had some great social ideas…
Wikipedia has a good overview on
bicycle sharing systems.. -

Beautiful, beautiful…
Copenhagen sounds great (and like Chch it too is on the east side of an island of Zealand – hell, we even have the cone …
so what yer saying is, basically, we’ll be Amsterdammed if we do
and damned (stupid) if we don’t…Though looking at the figures Copenhagen is at least about 3 or 4 times the population of Chch :
- while both are on a similar area (approx 450 sq km)
- Chch urban population approx 400,000 (no City dwellers listed)
- Copenhagen urban population approx 1,200,000
plus the city has 540.00
and that has to help when planning a big city – not to say that Chch can’t strive for a similar idea though
(as long as the powers that be realise it isn’t
a big city in the greater scheme of things!)

We seem to have forgotten that the purpose of local government was to be, you know, local!
I think they follow the modern interpretation of local or Lo-Cal - they are certainly stripping the fat out of this whale-of-a-city - while someone else sups the cream, I don't doubt...

At least old road warning signs can be
repurposed in Sydenham and the CBD...
things like;
- Dislodged Masonry Ahead
- Wandering Stock
(and cash)CERA will be installing their new signs soon, including this obvious one

Not really getting why it isn’t front-page news.
Maybe it needs a snappy News brand :
- KY2 , Auckland shafted by Computer
- IT came from the future
- SAP ping the Supercity -

We are all a twitter
- ie: in a state of agitation or excitement
oh, now I see it is in the "I am Spartacus" vein..Still Twitter doesn't have many positive meanings
Ie - Idle, trivial or ignorant talk
- Light tremulous sounds
derived from a Middle English word for imitative
and all the thesaurus flow-ons are of similar ilk (naturally) prattle, blather, yabber...just who was their marketing person?
still moot point now... -
