mccain was a guy who could finally say what he wanted, whereas obama was pressing himself into the presidential mould. i actually related to mccain more.
To guy who's saying goodbye always has an easier job than the guy who's saying hallo.

but I thought I caught all of his "thank you to" people, and he didn't mention Palin at all. Did I miss it?
He mentioned her, of course. He's not completely classless.

(I even forgave him for using "enormity" as a synonym for "magnitude".)
He didn't use it as a synonysm for "magnitude". He used it as the exact right word for "enormity".

Now, if only I wasnt an atheist, I swear I would hear my late Uncle Bill chuckling with delight...
I am an atheist and yet my nonna has a pretty wide grin on her face right now. Uncle Bill too.

Karl Rove says Obama "appealed to America's better angels".
How would he know? I didn't think he has access to the place they live.
The studio exploded in a cloud of irony.

Cain I fuck one of the live ones, if you don't mind?
Knock yourself out. A moment to acknnowledge those who gave their life to this particular cause, inspiring millions of blacks and whites alike in the process, as opposed to old white tories who had nothing whatsoever to do with it and who spoke in insufferable aphorisms, wouldn't be wasted either.

Dude, no disrespect to Doctor King, but you don't bring out an oldie (however much of a goodie) to welcome a new age
Precisely: fuck Churchill.

I am amazed actually
If that McCain had run, he would have done a lot better. No, I don't think that running on a platform of electing Barack Obama would have netted him many states. And I say it in all seriousness.

I think Winston Churchill's epigram to The Second World War has a suitable gravitas for the moment.
Churchill? Seriously? Fuck Churchill. Here's MLK, the day before his assassination:
We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man.
(David Gergen made the whole CNN studio tear up with an extract from the very same. Old Republicans have a heart too.)
