Unfortunately for me, I think I had a pretty pleasant,
Same here for primary, and intermediate, Only thing I recall of secondary was Miss Cooper, (French teacher) putting me in classroom cupboard when I would suggest that gin wasn't the teachers aide. Fortunately pour mwaa, cupboard was full of French literature so was able to teach myself enough to pass school cert French. A Latin teacher I know recalls her reputation for a tipple, so I know it wasn't my imagination. Thought she had class though :-) Also, deputy head would enjoy constant badgering, with purpose of ruining every day there.__ We don't need no stinkin' badgers!__

Trying to not get sucked into the crazy vortex,
I try not to read, let alone engage, in soo much negativity. Sites like those can't be good for your health surely? To actually feed off the "hate" that some people espouse there (kiwiblog) is very sad in my minds eye.
-
I'd like to thank you all for directing me to the Kiwiblog thread.
Seriously, thanks a bunch.
ditto. I got suckered too. Craig! Where are you !:)

I disagree with everything Grant posted, but isn't it just the overt policy of ACT and the covert views of a lot of National supporters?
I think you are right there Rich.
I don't fully understand the whole "troll" concept, at least insofar as for people posting sincerely held views. Is the idea that one should only "debate" from a position of broad agreement with the general leaning of a forum?
I thought a forum was the coming together of like minded people, not to just kiss arse, to discuss, but to deliberately attach oneself for the sole purpose to disagree would in my view be a troll. There are all sorts of appropriate places for a PA troll to piss off to and we have seen that person go there in the past just to shit stir regarding the blog about abortion. Otherwise he could always crawl back under his very little bridge and wallow in his own shite.

Dexter subtracts. I'd encourage our host to consider permanently banning someone who undermines this forum by their persistently and wilfully ignorant behaviour here.
BURN HIM AT THE STAKE! TAKE HIM TO THE DUCKING STOOL!
We all know know that's what would happen at a real-world gathering to anyone behaving like that - eventually someone would put out the trash.
Why Sasha, Are you suggesting an intervention?:)
-
The irony is, that we'll probably be collectively supporting Grant Dexter if he becomes institutionalized within a public mental facility, as its entirely probable that he needs more help than most.
And here I was, sure that was where he already lived, hence my patience for all his delusions;)

Winz case managers don't all appear to have good bedside manner, when dealing with clients, with mental illness. I know this from experience.
I wonder if, without being able to physically see the cases where mental health is the issue, that it clouds the judgement of the case workers and therefore the circle of assistance gets harder.E.g, Just as a jury has to decide on mental health in court, we notice how the opinions are varied and affect a charge I suspect winz staff are like that. The approval from above, for the case manager to grant your entitlement involves more than one person so hopefully, what with awareness campaigns, and a wider recognition about it, it can be an area that gets addressed. I'd rather that, than throw out what is working leaving staff back at square one. Resources there would benefit .

.i know so many people who should have received help from their winz case manager but never got it. And only through advocates at places like dcm and the peoples resource center have these people been treated like human beings by winz.
Sue , Never had a problem from the moment I woke up in Auckland Hospital through to meeting Winz. They approached me in Hospital to help. They advised me as to the many areas they could help. I never expected anything and the help which was both unexpected and beyond my wildest dreams (and they felt like being on acid) was very comforting in a time with a mortgage and inability to work etc. I don't know if my doctor was winz certified but never had a problem. Still, I thought I was very lucky to be alive so with so much help I suppose I could have felt I got good treatment however I got the impression , we do a bloody good job and our country (as small as it is) tries really hard to look after its people.
-
Really? That's bizarre, given that benefits aren't taxed.
I was told they are taxed by Winz, although I think supplements (accomodation at least) are not.

I'm not bitching cos I chose to work rather than get DPB,
And that choice is what I think is definitely of benefit to our single parents. Time seems to be spent in Parliament on "truent/unmanagable/tagging/sickly poor uneducated children with uncaring parents and all that there is for National to offer is send them to boot camp, fine them, or take the parents away from their children if they like the choice to care for them, and ,make any sick or invalids regularly visit winz to make sure their "designated doctor" (at whatever price said doctor wants to charge) will allow them to stay on their entitlement.Shit I mean designated doctor sounds like more jobs for the boys to me. Seriously my first thought here was, when I got a bit sick, I had to arrange help to get to Winz, I couldn't walk, I could have an epileptic fit at any time. My head was bolted together, My brain was still coming to terms with being alive and all the pills I was popping to stay this way.Really, which designated doctor would I have been sent to? Or would I have 4? I actually like the ones I chose myself. Well, I suppose that could be lots of jobs for the boys at the tax payers expense. Sounds wrong to moi!
Also, one day it's Labour, skull and cross bones mamby pamby, nanny state , then it's National, we know whats best for anyone that wants any assistance. Then it,s don't tell schools what their kids should eat at tuck shops (as a preventative measure against our ever increasing problem with Diabetes) but National says if you don't do as your'e told ,3 strikes and your'e out. Starve! grrrrrrr..... Bully boys. (serenity now...)
