Who won the last Olympic Gold for Rugby?
USA, USA, USA. -
If you're wandering around Christchurch, pop out to Sumner 1 The Rocks.
I think it's wonderful and brutal, maybe reflective of the War years and modeled on a tank trap.
Had lots of engineering too, not sure I could live there but I like it very much anyway.
Anyone know the Architect? -
The crayfish loo would of course need to be undersized and overpriced to have any real meaning though.

Keir, that really just sounds snobish & I don't see it as valid except for size, but no Uni is openly talking of moving into the City (3kms east) in any numbers.
I think the convergence of threads shows how important environment is in social policy.
Who would have guessed codine was an "opium-linked drug".
Dropping the packet from 8-5days supply is hardley a headline though. No more nanny state?http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10621154

Not quite right.
The Architect at the Historic Places Trust doesn't rate Gothic Revival, I don't have it online, can anyone help?
Much of the devestation around Sydenham was done by Dave Henderson who also bowled the Heritage listed theatre on the north of the square next to the lane, he owns strip clubs building along there. -
So CPIT doesn't count? As the Uni left the Poly set up in town.
Converging threads a bit, but there is no dearth of music in Christchurch, there is at UC. The Jazz School & School of Music are only a block from each other, exactly where the southern renewal is planned. -
That's exactly what I mean. The Occidental had about 50 foam mattresses piled in the front ground floor room for over a year, that's more than demolition by neglect, that's inticement.
Last I heard the police were using it for training, I don't expect that has left it pretty.
Just to the west of the Occidental a twin building to the one on the cnr was pulled down. From trademe I see it's gonna be a new strip bar, so prob owned by Christchurch's biggest beneficary and landlord to the sex industry.
The Brown building to the right was twinned with the new CGs and done by the self declared urban revitalist.

The site is currently a muddy hole, water level is high & getting higher in Christchurch. -
I've been told & there is surely a book in it somewhere, that changes in the people in Warren & Mahoney after the Town Hall had a rather large influence on things. That is to say the Architectual Team their were very good, balanced each other and raised the bar in NZ up to that point.
Warren can draw but his vision fell off somewhat, I suspect the loss of key people is the reason. -
Christchurch Art Gallery is the alternate site for the CCC call centre in case of disaster, so I've been told by employees after there induction.

Does anyone know the brief for the Hi Court?
It seems to me that steel construction is a lot more than cosmetic & the design is just a box, so strong, maybe with an emergency role?
The Christchurch Art Gallery has an emergency role & so is a just concrete box.
