The "Banana" label is pretty common, almost a little archaic even, I was talking to a buddy who lived in HK and Canada for 20 or 30 years and he used to hear it all the time. Then when he lived in the US "ABC" became the label of choice.
Go labels.
Speaking of which I tried explain the "NZ European" thing to some locals here and I got widely laughed at. Britain doesn't get such subtle distinctions it seems. It is all kind of moot tho, as now I call myself "White Other".

Actually over here in London FOB seems to be used quite a bit amongst us temporary economic migrants, in reference to ourselves of course.
Re SkyKiwi - Well, find me a large forums community with heaps of teenagers or twenty somethings that doesn't sometimes get filled with vaguely (and sometimes not even vaguely) repugnant racist crap and I will be impressed, then eat my hat.

I didn't get that feeling at all, plus I'll hold judgment on omissions till I see more of the series , I believe that was episode one.
Thanks for posting that, I forgot it was on and so missed it when it broadcast. Hurray for the internet!

To return to an old topic:
I've read Stuff twice this week, and both times I've seen Dog Attack stories. WTF is up with that? By comparison, the British dailies, based as they are in a city with something called "the ilse of dogs", and where everyone seems to have at least one dog, that they bring to the pub, tube, and other random places, NEVER seem to mention dog attacks. It can't be because it doesn't happen (too many young angry men types own bulldogs for me to believe that).

Speaking of killer technology, this was how the Empire was won:

That does seem to have got lost in the news Danyl, I'm still not sure why therapeutic medicine or treatments need to get some sort of free pass around regulatory supervision. If I read the lobby correctly its some sort of economic patriotism angle. But hey, if we regulate party pills, why not other such drugs?

Argh! I was really hoping they'd remove that contracting out provision...among other things.
Well, I guess our secret mole in the Committee is on progress to build a piece of legislation that will continue to force consumers to revolt and break the law. Good work!

The one thing I hate about Macs is having to upgrade my OS if i want to be able to sync my phone properly, and even then not being certain it would work.

At least SimCity had cheat mode and alien attack...

London is currently quite detached from this ill weather - we have had some really good hot days this week, today and Sunday were especially good - which was good news as I was at a concert in a park all Sunday so the rain would have made things kind of grim.
