Bit of trivia...
Chicharrones were a product my da' was trying to export way back in the days of the Otahuhu meat works. Southdown considered it a by product, hence rubbish. At 1c a piece, the mexican delicacy was gold to his eyes and seemed viable right up until the hefty sales taxes being introduced on export. (I think that's how it went, ) His dreams went out the window, and the pork rind went back in the bin. 30 years later.......

I'll leave someone else to formulate the "tree falls in the forest" joke.
.....So it is his fault :)

Rob,
Yes, it does, and no, it's not. Quite melancholic. And it was the "telephones for eyes" line that stuck, but the whole song is a feature of my brain.....holes dug by...there it is again:)

For anyone who is baffled:
Waay back, but what the,,,,, can't sleep anyway so.....
Time, all the long red lines, that take
Control, of all th smoke-like streams that flow into your
Dreams, that big blue open sea, that can't be
Crossed, that can't be climbed, just born
Between, oh the two white lines, distant gods and faded
Signs, of all those blinking lites, you had to pick the one tonight...Holes, dug by little moles, angry jealous
Spies, got telephones for eyes, come to you as
Friends, all those endless ends, that can't be
Tied, oh they make me laugh, and always make me
Cry, until they drop like flies, and sink like polished
Stones, of all the stones i throw,
How does that old song go?
How does that old song go?...Bands, those funny little plans, that never work quite right.
How does that old song go?"
Nice wee number innit.

The problem with the Greens for me is their absolute intellectual rigidity, their failure to acknowledge that the choices are between the worst worst and the least worst, not Heaven and Hell.
yeah but,na but,.....oh...ya know. Wasn't that exactly what they did do when voting on the Transport Bill? Were against it initially then compromised as they saw it as a good start, and therefore better than nothing.(blown bubble splatters on face, gets stuck in hair)

9. 11. RIP Got a stay of Execution at 8.30 this morning. Arborist was trying to cut it down. Council requested that they halt until my schedule application that they misplaced for 8 months:(. was addressed which he agreed to.Got home tonight, 4 large trees gone. I have never seen such blatant environmental vandalism in my life. For anyone ever interested in saving any exotic trees in Auckland, you must apply to schedule(no cost) because that is the only way to even be advised of felling. as long as you have the fee, Council will grant a non notifiable resource consent and noone can do anything.

Hmmm. Details and I see what I can do, at least, time and flight:)
We are planning our first trip overseas....
. Lost ours on way to London. Airport announced as soon as we got there, "Can, (insert several names here) please come to such and such counter". Nervously, then angrily, found we were luggageless. Consolation was, that we had an escort straight through to immediately find we were out as we were now looking at rail. 3 days and the Airport couriered our stuff to us (although some was wet and we figured it came from Brisbane and anything is possible)

And apropos, the issue is to establish if said money was used for what it was intended and declared appropriately. Which has been suggested, it was .

So if she knew about it and watched Winston publicly declaring that it did not exist (ie. she knew he was lying) and then does nothing about it - what does that say about her ethics?
Prime Minister Helen Clark has consistently said on being advised of said money from Owen Glenn, she queried its truth with Winston Peters by phone(in SA). He denied , she accepted the Ministers answer. Because of public interest (media?) Margaret Wilson sent to Privileges committee to__ investigate.__ The Prime Minister then consistently said she believes both Owen Glenn and Winston Peters are Honourable men the committee should be allowed due process and to not prejudge before the committee is allowed to rule (unlike other Parties). That is ethical. She is answerable to Winston's Portfolio but, not his Party and accountants and Lawyers and advisers and the lunch menu and who drinks how much etc. It is a Matrix and large amounts of money move through it. Lords also get forgotten about even when we think __that __should be easy to remember. I guess Mt Roskill shipping tycoons can be forgotten too:)
