Hard News: The next four years, in reply to
There will be big battles over things like the Dakota Access Pipeline when the Trump admin forces it through
Or they will outsource that to individual states by Congress handing over all federal lands, ripe for oil companies and rogue ranchers to get their hands on it.
At stake are areas managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), National Forests and Federal Wildlife Refuges, which contribute to an estimated $646bn each year in economic stimulus from recreation on public lands and 6.1m jobs. Transferring these lands to the states, critics fear, could decimate those numbers by eliminating mixed-use requirements, limiting public access and turning over large portions for energy or property development.
They have been awaiting this total control for many years and have plenty of harmful changes ready to go. Dismantling the New Deal won't even take a whole term.

a lot of Americans have had a gutsful with their bullying progressive liberal middle class
Um, the middle class are the people who voted for Trump, not poor 'hillbillies' - and for cultural rather than economic reasons. Fear of whiteness no longer being the trump card that it once was. Unresolved feelings about slavery. Etc. Links published hereabouts right after the election.

When pressed on a possible prosecution of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has said he might come to the United States, Pence said the U.S. would “bring to bear the law on his actions and hold him accountable.”
But he did note that documents leaked by WikiLeaks during the election — and allegedly provided to the organization by Russian hackers — were “useful to many Americans.”

Republican officials are apparently surprised by the intensity of resistance - threatening some people with certain death may bring that.

This twitter thread via Lamia Imam is convincing about how the Repugs have seized power. That will last beyond Trumpyboy's impeachment or assassination.

Great post, thank you Russell. That must have taken quite some reading and thinking to pull together.
Earlier this month, House Republicans voted to gut the House's independent ethics office – only to reverse their decision on a message from Trump.
I understood it was a swarm of constituents putting pressure on their representatives, though the Chump claiming credit is no surprise.

being assigned as the closest car to someone in Downtown when the driver is in Devonport
Classic - same error as Coop's Aussie-built system had years ago.

a secret scientist, whose identity and qualifications they have redacted.
I'd like to see whoever authorised that action named and shamed, after the case is through.
