  • Hard News: Barclay and arrogance, in reply to nzlemming,

    And the beat goes on…

Reading that piece makes ya wonder why they kept Barclay on, what were the 'good' reasons and what were the 'real' reasons - I can't see any 'good' reasons myself - the guy was clearly not MP material, so whose interests were served by keeping him in the fold?

    Evidential breadth test?

Police have reopened their investigation into Barclay.

So the Newsroom newsroom can expect a raid some time soon then?

    plus plonk…
The new NZ Herald site is clunky – they’ve hidden the links to the regional papers off to the side, (no link on their NZME network box at the bottom either) and I note the Hawke’s Bay Today page has a lot less stories on offer – with seemingly no way to browse older stories.
Perhaps one can pay something to get better access?

Not to mention their annoying penchant for ‘doubling down’ on stories (as pictured above)

    plonkers...
    'in vino veritas' perhaps

I see they've fixed that link box now - but in keeping with the general ethos of 'can't be bothered' they haven't fixed it in the story!

...but I honestly don’t believe the route to wellbeing is through depravation and that a physical-only focus gives us all we need. Attending to all four elements of wellbeing is far more progressive, effective and sustainable.

    <my bold>

There's also the finer points of whether they are talking about 'privation' or 'deprivation' and did they really mean 'denial' - as deprivation and its de-less version relate to 'necessities' of life.

I decided not to call them Tories for a bit of variation.

...and like the GOP, National are 'the elephant in the room'!
Or is that 'in the house'?

And to form, The Herald is on top of the real estate story in it!
Barclay has recently accrued fresh outgoings with the $721,000 purchase of a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Arrowtown.

Well it does clearly show how this Government is helping young people into their first homes... and probably their first distressed mortgage sale - another 'steep learning curve'.

Todd Barclay and his $80,000 exit package from Parliament – but what will he do for the money?

Allowing him to stay on basically endorses his actions.
Or at least minimises the 'punishment' he richly deserves
Just as Theresa May thinks she can have her cake and eat it too on Brexit, our own Baby Tories should realise you can't 'cross a line' and still stay on the side you came from.
    Quaint, 'um, politics...
