Yes, she was put down, but she definitely died. To say anything dies does not suggest agency automatically.
I just dislike euphemisms such as this. An increasing number of real estate agents now talk about "powder rooms" instead of toilets in their ads.
It's a style of language I find distasteful.

I was going to say sorry for this, for being a language nut, but then, I'm not. Kashin didn't "pass" Kashin died.
Why have we let this mendacious lower-middle class euphemism replace the simple reality of the verb "die" ?
You can pass wind, pass an exam, pass another person on the street. But we all die.

Have a look at the new Ironbank Building on K Rd - best bit of new city design I've seen here for ages. We can do good contemporary architecture.

I hope all goes well for you. Glad you got the ink!

I feel sorry for Braunias being exiled to the crappy canvas, but he's the only thing worth reading in that whole "magazine" even if he can be a grumpy sod at times.
The Listener, I cancelled my sub a while back and don't miss it.
And as for Emma's original post - yes!

It's Christchurch. Need I say more?

I like it a lot, but I fear it's way too imaginative and clever to get ticked off by our city council.

Yes to Sascha - I really don't see why private schools should get any govt. funding. Aren't they all about the free market and letting the strong survive?

Was it just me or did Geoffrey Palmer sound like a grumpy old grandpa who had no idea what the kids were up to? I suppose he does live within a cocoon of privilege, but really, is the drunkeness on our streets that surprising if you['ve had your eyes open for the last few decades?

Devonport Chocolates on POnsonby Rd - just delicious, lethally good and addictive.
But otherwise, Whittakers over Cadburys any day.
