  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

I work in advertising media sales. I sell the ads that pay your salary. Now you should hear the abuse I get. wow, some mean stuff, tears, red faces, abuse, screaming....and that's just the sales meetings.

If you want a service like the BBC offers it's going to cost about $10 billion per year, give or take

ten billion? For a n.z state run news service. Where the hell did you get that figure?

Facts, man no is disputing the existence of the present model but it does have , has had , large government assistence. We built it, trained its broadcasters and funded its programmes.

The commercialisation of t.v is another debate Mr Christie, all we can observe is the present model is pretty poor in terms of quality and usefulness. Do you really want the whims of corporate marketing departments to run your industry, provide your salary, as your ad men drop their prices everywhere, desperately trying to get big bucks from the next bmw campaign.

We need a bbc model, stop this facade.

  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

Pardon my observation. The question was whether Henry is "an unmitigated right-wing nut-job", which I don't think he is.

    Lets agree on nut-job then.

where is the pas love? Bart has some logic there guys , henry wants (ed) to be a bully and we the taxpayer fund him in his dream, qualified by the ad revenue supplement that is mawning breakfast , presenting to an audience with no alternative but to switch the bugger off.

Which is fine except when he presents views that get in the way of normal media, become media, sometimes political, sometimes in election years , and then that's when I despair because voters do listen to him, especially the ones who decide elections, the floating ones.

It reminds me it was better John Lennon died when he did.

No, he was only 40 and a guy shot him. He would have been good to have around.

I'd like to think I do too -- and even if I don't like someone, or disagree with their views, I don't get much insight or amusement out watching people being set up to be humiliated in public. Perhaps I'm just turning into a soft cock in my dotage...

I agree, it's not the best comedy , borat is hit and miss too in my opinion because he has a meaness at times that messes with the funny , and it would be good to get these guys a budget so they don't have to do cheap pranks ....but Paul Henry wasn't humiliated,
he was just struggling with an idealism i suspect he would have liked to understand.Possibly not the original intent but funny all the same,
to economist lovers it was funny.

I don’t feel a warmth to Paul Henry, Paul Holmes, Leighton Smith, Micheal Laws, Kerry Woodham, …angry guy at the end of the day on zb. I wish i did.

Its always very sloppy social commentary, and it seems to get massive promotion and distribution and awards. I see them as, if not nutty, then just incompetent to be commenting on important social issues through share bulk of historic inaccuracies and media hyping.

I want a rachel madow now.

I seriously fucking disapprove of that shit.

If you were a guest now on his show he would say, "hey russell you are just so P.C ", and flick his eyes and we'd all laugh at your beard.......a beard, on a man.
