The future under National will be...
you forgot all the dancing sikhs.
i've already phoned party hq and asked for a few of those. especially the way they livened the place up a little.
the downside is that they'll doubtless all be carrying guns, for "self-defence" of course.

labour and green will likely pick up one each, afaik both coming off the nats.
sooo... change might be
44 labour
9 green
anderton= 54 votes.
*
5 maori*
57 national
dunne
5 act
= 63 voteslabour still can't get up even with the maori party. however, the nats have a guaranteed majority even without the ACT party

the manners and countenance of a Ferengi trader
this made me chuckle a little. playing to the sci-fi crowd there RB? heh.
and i remarked on saturday night that the national party doesn't actually *need* the act party.
assuming the specials don't sway too far in favour of labour/greens (the estimates are national losing two seats), national could ask for support from the maori party on some matters, as you point out.
the member for epsom might be overstating the strength of his position.

here's a serious question:
who was the first person to call a national government this election?
my first memory is that "terrorist" guy caught up in the raids last year.

Gee thanks, Che. :-)
ah, but we never worked "together". i did get shafted by a member of your office though...
one who shares the name of a famous new zealand poet.

yes, easy pick for me. franks, robertson, kedgely...
then it was just a case of whether the reds deserved my party vote or not.
i thought not.

@andrew e
maybe for some bizarre reason the populace wanted a Labour government but Peter Dunne back in
the numbers look a lot like his voters abandoned him for the nats, and it was bad luck that those greens didn't think to vote for chauvel.

Policy development. LOL. I'm struggling to remember the last time I struck a significant policy process that held benefit to the public as its core tenet.
tee-hee. my experience of policy advisers has lead me to believe they behave like the "youngest children" of the public service.
and i realised something good. my partner being pregnant and on parental leave, she *must* be given her job (and salary) back any time within the next 51 weeks.
by then we'll know how my agency will move...

well, for those of you who are a little upset about the result, consider that some of us are looking at our actual jobs disappearing.
not getting your favourite party in power is less of an issue...
