Rich,
Billy Connolly used to have a routine about buying a bicycle and getting a booklet with advice which included the issue of 'penile numbness'. The booklet - according to him - advised the rider to hop off and have a 'discreet massage'.
You can imagine the rest. Personally I've found just hopping off the bike and doing star jumps will fix the problem.

Just one observation from my own - limited - experience in this area: the thing about people in this situation is it can be so very very hard to reach them. Its the nature of the illness. That adds to the burdens of their loved ones and makes it harder to help.
Yeah, that comment about Finn's girlfriend hugging him..its a choker all right. She clearly did everything she could. -
CRaig,
"nimple support" from Clark?
Was that what you meant to say? It's a new word on me, but I see its in the urban dictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nimple&defid=1347141
I suppose metaphorically it could be said to be a pimple which appears on the nose at the wrong time...at a stretch.
A car well suited to having sex in, perhaps at a much bigger stretch.
The word caused me a bit of a double take because I read it as 'nipple support' from the PM and my brain broke.

Emma,
Blazing Saddles town meeting reference? Or am I drawing too long a bow?

Haven't had any noticable rise in email spam: last night though three unsolicited calls from real estate agents, telling us its a good time to get an investment property.
One was from an Auckland agent. Methinks that downturn in the property market Treasury has been predicting since 2003 will happen in the next nine months is finally here.
We'd never had any dealings with any of the agents.

Ah, screw the pair of 'em.
Hmm.
Well, I would go with Kiri, at a pinch.
But I'd be thinking of Hayley.

Well, to paraphrase Winston Churchill on Clement Atlee, Westenra is a very modest person who has much to be modest about. :)
And I suspect if I were Dame K's husband, I would drink it...
But in the morning I'll be sober.
Have to confess I can't comment on the music of either of them. I've seen photos of Hayley: also an ad for her long playing record. Same, now I think about it, for Dame K.
-
I don't think this row is really about music.
It's about how NZers like our cultural heroes [I refuse to use the 'I' word].
Hayley thingummy comes across very girl next door: Dame K as being more than a little up herself.

You could of course, read the Wiki.
Nah.
Opus Dei logged on and deleted all the embarrassing stuff.
Seriously, though - and further to more recent comments - there isn't a doctrine of Wikipedia Infalliblity, either.

Papal infallibility is a comparatively recent doctrine; it came into being in 1870. And the pope (whichever man happened to be the pope at the time) has only used it twice, once to declare himself infallible, and once to declare the doctrine of the assumption of Mary the mother of Jesus (in 1950).
Didn't know it had only been used twice.
Haven't they got to wear a certain hat, or sit on a certain seat, or something like that?
Always wondered how a Pope would decide he was being infallible. You know, he wakes up one day and says, "Oh, yes! I'm just in the zone here, things are really humming, and I'm just going to do something pretty damn infallible, I can feel it in my bones!"
Or something.
God, I love religious discussions. [and I really do, God, if you're listening].
