Perhaps other developers didn’t want to repeat his mistakes and went for the cheap and cheerful approach?
I do remember when Les Mills was Mayor. My dad at that time put forward a suggestion of workings for down on the Quay and reaching the Viaduct with housing and commercial and green spaces down to the water. suffice to say they weren't accepted but I am going to prise those drawings out of his hands to have as art in my new home. It looked truly beautiful for an international destination and even now I would say the same. Nice tho' to see the docks opened up which was part of Dad's plan.

Yeh that’s called community. It’s horrible to move community a lot of the time. It’s great to have a patch.
I would say Remuera hasn't changed much. Still got the Family home which I have inherited part of and we decided it's staying there as is. It's pretty conservative and I suppose that is what keeps it the same. My growing up there was brilliant and fun and most of the kids from my schools were pretty out there even if their parents weren't .I guess their parents were busy makin' money. Mine were busy being hippy artists. Gotta love that. Not a lot has changed in my life but next month .....

T'other just said I'd been talking about gravy boats for a month.Fact is I cant find one I like ....yet. Because I dont eat meat , gravy skipped my mind for a recent b'day so my hunt continues but today I managed op shop shot glasses and mini casserole dishes and now I have an idea for a handmade South African piece that deserves to be a gravy boat in a couple of weeks. I better make sure its before buy nothing day eh ? ;)

Perhaps Onehunga needs a few more years.
I guess it harks back to ,anything on the Northern slopes. North of Mt Albert Road has always done fine. Southside, not so much. Good access to transport is the first thing that enables peeps to venture out past their desired area and good eats gives an area a sense of community. I think the $2 stores are the handy shops in a suburb. They supply so many bits and bobs, odd stuff and quirky stuff and haloween stuff and nail polish and school shit and glue an' all sorts that you need when you least expect it. Plus I like diversity in an area and if the Chinese are there in a $2 shop you can betcha the real estate will climb.
Penrose and Mt Wellington will be forging ahead. Major roadworks and Trains are all updated and good food is happening and major shopping in Sylvia park has all the retail shops in the area.. I'd say that will be good real estate to invest in. Its close to water also. They have also started removing Glen Innes state housing. So that will create new housing close to good schools as well. It's gotta be up and coming if you want a good spot to live. -

As I said days ago, Parliament has been rendered useless. Key may as well have a press release in the morning and tell everyone what law he is creating or changing and then at least the Taxpayer can save some money by pointless travel to the House for MPs to sit and be ignored, lied to or outright suppressed. It’s now an absolute farce. The only perc for being in Wellington is that their breaks have not been taken away, unlike the rest of NZ.

Yes that's it, and here in NZ the powers that be just cant help themselves. Key said it way back. I remember him standing with Bennett on some podium telling the Country how "much they care" about NZers then followed with what would be the necessary stick with the carrot as they proceeded to undermine beneficiaries, stick being stick it to the sick and unemployed, carrot being tax cuts for the well off. That set the Nactional agenda for the next 6 years and continuing of course.
Drowning in distraction, keep the masses sheeple. Remove our right to be individual.

It would be nice if we were more than a cleaning crew for National’s fuck-ups.
Maybe that's exactly what Labour is? The work horse that saves the day. Maybe that's what labour are best at?Maybe they understand struggle best and if so I'm ok with that.Like most here I want fairness, but really what if labour are the best there is to keep it real? The reality now is, some one else is in control, and this selfish greedy corrupt behaviour will combust as we are already seeing signs of. Those that are opposed to the status quo must shout and scream and bring all of it to the attention of the public just as Hager is doing. We should all join and support his purpose (including Greens) and say ' not fucking good enough!!" not "well maybe we can make a deal?" There is good and bad and I know which one is worth fighting for.right now.

This does not seem to have interfered with their ability to define what they stand for.
That may be your perception .Just feels shifty to me. I've dealt with too many cons in my life to look the other way and the fact that the Greens helped implement the insulation programme doesnt change the fact that whilst some kids may feel a bit warmer now, there are many more starving and more families struggling and I cant support Nactional for that slice of a carrot when someone else gets a stick shoved up their rectum. On principle, it just doesn't feel right, call me old fashioned.
