If nerds didn't exist - we would have to invent them, otherwise who would we be superior to ? Sheep ?
What 81st actually thinks.
Whether it be crossing the line first or winning a trophy - if one cannot perceive the small achievements which exist in the moments that contribute to a sporting outcome one cannot “see” sport, in the same way that some will never “hear” poetry. In some ways surrendering sport to the spectacle is like confining the poet to rhyme and alliteration.

Heh - Funny old world, my great great grandma was Nelly Voller. My second cousin Ian, runs Voller's of Portsmouth. As for me, I remember meeting the the lovely ladies in the back of the shop in the '80's when you couldn't give the damn things away. I confess there remains in me a fascination with the mixture of Art, craft and engineering. Sexy in a very geek kind of way IMHO.

The psychologist in me can't get over what a great exercise in conformity the black box thing is. I was tempted to put some text in the box but couldn't quite bring myself to do it in the end.

I note that there was some comment on academic publishing up thread. As an academic content creator the following links echo my frustration and belief that Lessig's call for a granular approach is long overdue.
But I do wonder if this can really be true; Glaxo giving away the know-how ?
Apologies if this has been stuff has been posted and I missed it.

I just love the way this equation f**ks over mass in a relative way - it deserves it.

I want to pay artists, not fat old white men sitting around pools in Vegas.
So let me get this right if I want to be paid music money I have to sit in a pool with Tom Jones (and the nice ladies holding his arms up). Hmmmmm.

A Studnet (Auckland)
It is a widely known fact that E=mc^2 was the planned third part of a series of films on energy beginning with the Battleship Potemkin and October ! The film was never made because Einstein defected to California and American Studios wanted different explosions.
