I'm sure they'd hate if someone had devised a widget that you could click on that would scrape bibilographic data from the webpage you're viewing and send it on to the library....
There is Zoterp, which will take all the bibliographical information for you, but I don't think it has a 'send the librarians to work' function yet. Actually, I think it's secretly trying to put the librarians on the dole line.

Watching that video, I found myself thinking that Bob didn't seem like such a bad baby. But that look he gave the camera about two seconds before the end sent shivers down my spine.
And well done on the They Might Be Giants. At this rate he'll be on to Tom Waits' Island years by the time he hits primary school.

While we're noting those that are holding out against The Listener's repositioning as a lifestyle magazine, let's hear it for the diversions. The cryptic crossword and Take 5 were always my favourites (although contact has been irregular since moving to the US), and it's good to see them holding out against those symbols of middle-class baby-boom anxieties that are Sudoku and Kakuro -- evidence of decline under Stirling if ever it was needed.

Yes. And yes. Well, you did to start with, anyway:
Explicitly making an analogy between a woman having an abortion and illegal torture practices by the United States seems anti-women and anti-abortion, even if I understand your point about the right to criticise the act of a sovereign on its territory. Not only is it a very poor analogy, it's also insensitive and distasteful, and hardly likely to result in an intelligent discussion. Indeed, on a forum such as this one, it seems designed to provoke exactly the kind of responses it got.
Also, if we're going to play quote the dictionary, while dictionary.com may include 'to postpone' in veto, the OED doesn't (I can't link to it because it's behind a subscriber wall).
Veto, n. 1. [a. L. veto I forbid (1st pers. sing. pres. ind. of vet{amac}re), the word by which the Roman tribunes of the people opposed measures of the Senate or actions of the magistrates. Hence also F., Sp., Pg., It. veto.]
A prohibition having for its object or result the prevention of a proposed or intended act; the power of thus preventing or checking action by prohibition. Freq. in phr. to put (also place, set) a veto on or upon (something).
Veto, v. 1. trans. To put a veto on, to refuse consent to; to stop or block by this means: a. With reference to legislative measures or similar matters.
My understanding of veto has always been 'to stop' or 'to prevent' by legislation. This in line with the OED and I assume many other commentators here have understood the word in the same way. I think a preferable word for you would be 'injunction'. I note that in your original post, you used 'to prevent' as a synonym for veto, a usage which is consistent with all but your most recent posting.

When I saw impossible, I guess I mean nigh impossible. I once asked a guy who runs a British food store in Manhattan, and he was pretty emphatic, despite there being a big, faded Vegemite poster in the window. They banned its import two years ago. Those jars might have been hanging around from before then, Kyle.
Doesn't really bother me, as I'm a Marmite kind of guy.

However, speaking of New Zealand foodstuffs, I discovered Vogel's bread at the supermarket in Pittsburgh the other day. It's made in Ohio, and not the same, but you take what you can get in these parts.
