It would now be useful to know what the actual consequences of domestic violence are, for all those involved.
That's a big, big question, Steven. Obviously it's different for everyone: every situation is different, every individual reacts differently. And how do you know if, twenty years down the track, someone's inability to form a stable relationship, say, is a consequence of abuse they suffered or witnessed as a child?
It certainly wouldn't make for a very punchy or effective message. But I do think it is worth talking about.

Along with grapefruit...

I can see some sort of high powered steel arrow peircing all three drives.
That's just what I was thinking. I think it's the way they're lined up in the picture.
The kiln is remarkably, chillingly, hands-off and cold-blooded. If we were going for heat stress I'd want a flame-thrower.

Pssst: I don't know if you guys were aware of this, but often, an offer to see someone's etchings means you end up examining *so much more* than you bargained for...
Or so much less. I quite like etchings.

You have a *portfolio*?
That's where he keeps his etchings. Wanna see?

Umm. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't using candles and kerosene lamps for lighting be worse for the environment then the equivalent wattage of electric lighting. Kerosene and paraffin are both derived from fossil fuels ...

I suspect the angelic-faced child is imagining the millions he will be awarded when he sues his dreadful father for defamation of character. Clearly no-one who looks so sweet could be guilty of the dreadful acts you claim
I will appear for the defense. I held Bob once. After he'd been safely restored to his father and stopped screaming, he spent the next fifteen minutes or so giving me the kind of look I'd previously only received from people's mothers and girlfriends.

Earth Hour was fun.
And then there was this comment on the Stuff Article:
After taking part in Earth Hour quite considerably by fully lighting the house with candles and having all lights off, we decided in the last 15 minutes to go for a drive to see if our community was also taking part. We were appalled at the amount of lighting we seen around the Spreydon/Cashmere area. One house had almost every light on inside aswell as all the outdoor lighting. Come on guys, we are supposed to be leading the way here and this is how you represent us. It was actually a rather disappointing event from what we thought. Hopefully the rest of the world can help out alot more than what we did.
Yes, they got in their car and drove around complaining that other people weren't turning their lightbulbs off.

If you were serious about "living off the land" in NZ then the only consistent way to get coffee is to trade some delicious speciality of your own for it, which will make it the rare treat it was for your great-greatparents.
If you're serious about living off the land, you should be making your 'coffee' out of dandelion root like a real hippy.

Interesting indeed and he apparently enjoys it a lot having once said that "cutting C++ code is better than sex".
There are too many programmers around to get away with a snide remark about nobody being in a position to make the comparison. I'll settle for a 'ur doin it wrong'.
