I am not against funding stuff in Auckland. I argued very strongly for tax payer money to go to new stadium, the waterfront etc. Would love to see your museum free. And don't get me started on the public transport investment that is required there.
But don't blame Te Papa and Wellington for your woes. If you keep voting in tight fisted berks like John Banks & his buddies don't expect too much sympathy coming your way either. When did Banks last lobby for the Arts in Auckland?
Russell, you may need to watch that clip again. It goes well beyond good natured regional ribbing, which we all enjoy, and into rather bitter vitriol. Silly really.

In fact, that clip just gets worse and worse. Talk about back biting.
The way to support the arts in New Zealand is not to go about shitting on other cities. Those two Aucklanders deserve to be hounded for a wasted opportunity and a good attempt at killing the arts scene in a parts of the country they appear to disdain.
If this is an example of 'super' Auckland flexing its muscles no wonder the rest of us might pause for thought.

What I can't understand is why the Metro guy feels the need to dis Wellington in order to build up Auckland.
Seems very chip on the shoulderish. Why not just focus what is good about your place rather than trying to pull something down?

I'd love twitter as a client. There is none of this 24*7 availability, 99.9999999999% uptime shit. They *know* the Internet is flaky and when the site needs a rest they stick up a pretty picture, and let it rest.
What could be more reasonable :-)

Wellington council tried that 25 year thing to keep sending bad odours right across the southern suburbs - simply because they had built their composting pit wrong.
They got biffed, hopefully you will also be successful.
And, welcome back David.

By the way, I do wonder at the size and nature of this round table that Kerr sits at. As far as I can tell it represents very few businesses and as the effect of making NZ business look like a bunch of Luddite idiots.
Not really the impression I want to convey to my overseas clients. Roger, for the love of God, can you change your organisation's name? I am sure PA readers can come up with some appropriate suggestions.

Looking at the comments on the climate change debate...
Exactly the justification that Tim Groser needs to resist a panicked rush into economic dire straits.
Jesus, controls on carbon emissions were first signed up to by the Clinton administration in 1993 (rejected by Congress). Where the hell does the idea that anyone is doing any 'panicked' rushing on this issue 16 years later!
If there is a time for panicked rushing it would most certainly be now.

What the Aussie ban did was suddenly lead to an explosion of choice in CFL bulbs here.
Just over a year ago it was impossible to get anything other than the standard incandescent replacement. Anything small or spotlight-like had to be frigging halogen (which have been banned in Ausie because they are so dangerous).
Fast forward and suddenly we can have recessed spots, small lighting and the works. Banning, can increase choice.

Just to make up for my previous PM link:
Sounds more like McCartney than Lennon but hard to tell sometimes. But when Lennon kicks in at 1 minute it gets brilliant.
