  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

Well I don’t know what Just Thinking was just thinking, but I thought the butt of the joke was Worth.

Perhaps I need to find a hat.

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

I thought Just's post was more making a point about the allegations against Worth as reported in the media in the last 24 hours than having a dig at Rankin.

It had a Warning up front so was pretty obvious it was not a serious accusation?

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

Even putting aside all the other stuff, Slater’s not really made for TV, is he?

And I loved Colin Espiner’s comment on the question of whether Worth would leave parliament gracefully: “Well, he does have a high sense of self-entitlement”.

BTW, call me cynical, but I wonder if one of the reasons if Goff did not make more of the allegations a month ago is that he wanted to drag Worth out for as long as possible. And I don’t see much wrong with that.

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

Key was to slow on this, but he won't be the main loser in it all.

    1. Labour. How much they must have looked forward to having 3 years of Worth in a Minister's position. A complete UK-like parody of a Tory toff.

Kind of like revenge for the Benson-Pope situation.

2.ACT. There goes the guaranteed electorate seat.

What Naly said. Ecept I'd add that anyone who lazily conceeded that try against the Brumbies by being lazy and watching the ball should never play for the All Blacks in the same calendar year.

Surely no-one seriously expected him to get picked?

    Terrorists.

One thing surprises me though; the link between Pro-life and right wing.

I’d have thought the abortion divide would be more along religious than political lines.

I’d say he is actually a Man City fan; there are limits to people’s sarcasm.

  • Hard News: Swine flu, terror and Susan Boyle,

That said, I agree it's a misnomer and, when directed to the Susan Boyle clip by this very blog, I found the very badly acted fake surprise to be quite revolting, and the whole piece nothing but manipulative

    Well said.

There is just something so contrived about the story, and the dramatically simplistic way it’s been reported (and not only by the Red Tops).

From village dwelling recluse to Scotland’s answer to Amy Winehouse within a month.

    Wow

  • Hard News: Swine flu, terror and Susan Boyle,

One thing I don’t get about Boyle story is that she’s meant to have been entering such (presumably smaller) competitions for 10 years.

Surely she’d have done quite well in them?
