The mayoral results on a ward by ward (and therefore previous city) basis are now out. Results
It does seem that Banks received approx 20,000 more votes in this election in the old Auckland than he did in 2007, but Brown still won in the old Akl.

Is there a site that gives the breakdown of the Auckland Mayoral vote by ward and/or previous City? I'd be very interested to see how the candidates performed in the old Auckland City, and in particular if the vote for Banks increased or decreased over the previous Auckland elections.
I seem to recall that when Banks defeated Hubbard in the 2007 election his number of votes didn't increase by much compared to the2004 election, rather people didn't vote for Hubbard.

Please do note it though or people think it's true
And how can we get these sort of lies exposed to a wider audience?

To be fair, John Key didn't want to congratulate the Nobel Peace Prize winner as he hadn't been briefed
You also have to ask why MFAT hadn't prepared briefings on the nominees prior to the announcement of the winner, or are all the staff working on McCully's destruction of our aid budget?

re the Kiwibog comment, the first comment on this Dim-Post sums it up for me:
this isn’t about left or right politics but about offensive comments that outraged many
I just hope that our new Auckland Council doesn't think in such polarised left/right terms as the Kiwibog commentators.

Dishonest might be another..
Why?
Well take one high profile example from this Auckland election: when your campaign manager a current councillor on the C&R ticket, but you're describing yourself as "independent" it does strike one as tending towards dishonest.
-
How many years have C&R dominated Auckland City Council? They've left such a mess that the Govt (both left and right) felt they needed to change it.
It was almost amusing when Banks and co started moaning about the new Mt Eden prison when he has let some much crap be built in Auckland.

and for more humour, Farrar's advice to Aucklanders:
And generally you should not vote for these tickets:
...
Any ticket that mentions “people” in its nameQuite insightful analysis!

From today's Granny... 'Bad bank' sent another 20 firms to wall
So the firms were in default of their repayments, what was SCF meant to do? Sure, it indicates poor judgement on SCF's part in lending them money in the first place, but should they have waited until the arrears had got even bigger?

The other point is that NIWA are public servants. We pay for their work.
and for their defence in the Court case.
