But were you able to award negative points? Or in the case of Colin Craig perhaps imaginary numbers would have helped.

Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to
All true but in terms ensuring higher turnout you've got to have the willingness there in the first place. Things to do on Election Day are like the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. All the calls for greater emphasis in education on civics are the way to go, IMO.
As I'm sure has been said many times by others more learned in the area than me, if a person is disengaged from society they won't feel the need to express an opinion or vote. So the common thread is engagement but I would like to see it sooner rather than later.

Especially as there is now a vacancy for a "covert attack blogger".

Although it’s not all bad. David Fisher is making some grounds in redemption.
[ETA: and here, too.
She said the Ombudsman's relationship with the government service was based on trust. Without that, she said, "we're all in trouble".
"We may as well kiss democracy goodbye. The work of this office relies in great measure in the maintenance of a high level of trust and integrity between ourselves and government agencies," she said.

I could even burn old whales oil
Nah, the filthy contaminants would foul up everything.
This from wiki seemed on the money:
Whale oil was used as a cheap illuminant, though it gave off a strong odor when burnt and was not very popular.

Just about everyone who works for government handles sensitive information at some point during their working day.
I'm not convinced that his move to the private sector changes anything. If it were applicable, wouldn't privacy apply to staff whether current or former? (But then again Judith kinda trashed that one.)
So privacy makes some sense but not the other stuff it was wrapped in.

Mr Key says the Ombudsman’s ruling is fine by him.
"Totally comfortable with that, the only reason we didn't name names is just simply because these people handle sensitive information, and in the case of Phil de Joux he now works in the private sector."Is it just me or was that a total non sequiter?

having our heads beaten by the cops all winter
And that violence was something that further polarised opinions probably more toward the anti-tour movement. Even though I was too young to take part in the protests during the games, I did join the street marches and distinctly remember feeling very fearful of the police.
