Any idea what has happened to Colin Slade? He seemed pretty good the couple of games I watched him play for Canty. He seemed to get shunted off to the wing when someone else came back from injury (someone else who didn't play 1st-5 as well as Slade had).
And I think Bergquist might be worth another look for the step up (although he may need another season or 2). Also Bowden(?) who played 1st-5 for Otago last season and I think 2nd-5 this season for the Highlanders looked to have most of the goods.
Admittedly, these observations are based on only seeing a few games so they may be a bit wide of the mark, but you don't have to look far for some decent talent in the #10 jersey, as long as you are willing to look around & not just focus on the top few places in teh Super14.

I found that all a bit weird last night watching/listening to it several times. Initially, having seen the supposed quote ("I shot the prick") I thought I could sort of make it out.
However, a few listenings later I was told that people who had studied it came down on the side of it starting "I can't..." and when I heard it subsequently it sounded much more like "I can't breathe".
So we can get from "I shot the prick" to "I can't breathe" just from a little bit of preconception of what I was going to hear. Now I don't hear the 'shot' version at all, just the 'can't breathe' one.

Am I right that it is Elvis C duetting with Lucinda Williams on 1 of the tracks on her latest CD? I was playing it in the car when we were touring the South Island earlier in the year & my ears pricked up as I recognised the voice but it tooks a few minutes to place it.

I suspect, Tom, that you really conflate "man" with "fop".
Jus' sayin'.

Graham,
just a tiny point (pedantry)...
In the Stones in the 70's, where you have mentioned the Black & Blue album there is a reference to a track "Memory" (with Billy Preston).
I think the track is actually called "Melody" & you've crossed it up with "Memory Motel".(I'm a big fan of "Melody" - it is one of those unusual Stones numbers that seem out of character for them, but still work really well - like "Prodigal Son" from Beggars Banquet.)

FWIW, Craig, it is bad, worse, worst .

As a man I would suggest it is your duty to be willing to eat most anything that vaguely falls into the 'food' category. (And quite a few that obviously don't...) There was never an embargo on quiche, even if it was pronounced 'kwitch' on occasion.

Love the recursive dissonance of a list of manly things when creating lists is the manly thing.
Yrs, Ms Nicola Hornby

Danielle, I use it a lot and when I say "all due respect" I really do mean 'all due respect'. It is just that usually the amount of respect they are due approximates zero.
It's kinda mealy-mouthed but it generally works when dealing with officaldom in most of its guises.

As opposed to "their afternoon calcium"?
(It is from some ad. I thought WTF?? Afternoon calcium ?? Why, sir, I never heard such nonsense.)
