Oh and every now and again Amy decides to clear out my many 100s of t-shirts. Luckily each one has a carefully constructed reason for being kept.
If you're sentimentally attached to them, but not in a will-actually-wear-them kind of way, you could try cutting them up to construct curtains or a duvet cover or similar large furnishing-type objects.
(I have never actually done this, although I am planning to turn all my retired trousers into a crocheted rug which is arguably even more demented.)

I voted in Adelaide earlier this week, and took the girls with me. Part of their civic education.
Yeah, my mum did that when I was little. I distinctly remembering her saying we were going to go up to the school because it was boating day. It was very exciting! Had they flooded the field to accomplish this, maybe?
Dear lord, the disappointment. I remember it still.

Just name the vege to carve out and light with candles....the humble kumara?
Kumara might be a bit small for people within a couple of standard deviations of normal clumsiness. Taro are better on the size front, but both suffer from the problem of having fairly uniform interiors instead of being essentially self-hollowing like pumpkins are.
If we are going to try for a NZ/Pasifica veggie - instead of just saying hell with it, we eat plenty of pumpkins, pumpkin it is - maybe it will have to be in a slightly different format. Flax lanterns in the shape of stars?

Batman is a Republican?
Well, he invited Pat Leahy to his political fundraiser. So I'm guessing Democrat.

anyone should be welcome if they don't have another place to go
However, if your friend's joker uncle informs you that he got Fosters to go with Thanksgiving dinner especially for you, on no account should you assume this is one of his pranks and respond accordingly.
Uh, or so I hear.

Dyan's excellent summary does miss one key fact: Canadian and US Thanksgivings are on different dates, so if you play your cards rights you get to do it all twice.

So Amy, what kind of cake are you making?
Current thinking heavily favours indoor-s'mores:
- homemade biscuits
- homemade marshmallow
- dark couverture pistoles (from, yes, a 5kg box)
- butane torchPRO: everyone gets to play with fire. CON: not symbolic.
The last time I made cupcakes it was about 160 of them, each with a buttercream chrysanthemum, for a wedding last month. I was still coated in buttercream at the rehearsal dinner, and a wasp bit me. There will be no cupcakes.

Amy, you're now actively angling for me to have a nervous breakdown, aren't you?
You could split my intention half and half, I guess. Half touching wood and chanting break a leg, the other half reflecting on my experiences here in the last few election cycles.
Do I have it in me to resist offering cake and grief counseling?...nope. Very sad.

I wish I was in the US right now, and that's not something I say very often. Tomorrow is going to be pretty special.
Well, there really will be cake, if that makes any difference.
But, seriously? I thought it was going to be special after 2000, when they were surely and obviously going to reform their political system right in front of me.
Never underestimate the ability of the American electorate to break your heart.

You stayed grudgingly and with a lot of bitching when Bomb and Bomberer were in charge... what'd be the rush now?
there, fixed that for you.
