Man, that's really killed my buzz - have to go get a positive hit off the Archives thread =)

Another way of looking at that is that you're saying they're Maori but their views don't count and cannot be accorded any good faith. Seems a bit patronising.
Excuse me? You do such a good job of writing your own words, I'd ask that you don't put completely incorrect and pretty damn offensive ones in my mouth thanks.
I don't care what their ethnic background, I care that as far as I can tell they are spinning the useful divisive line of their political party. Perhaps they're not, but I'd rather get the impression from a broader group of Maori than simply a partisan team.
We finally get something that if looked at positively is a damn good thing IMO and yet it seems the Opposition is opposing it because hey that's all we know how to do at the moment. As I said, I'll let Maori as a whole let their true feelings be known on which flag to fly and not the political spin - if this 80% support of the flag at hui was a complete fabrication then we'll begin to hear about it from a number of areas I suspect, not just the political Opposition.
-
And let's just say that if Helen Clark had decided to fly the TR flag over the bridge without any hui in Maoridom, I believe a few of these voices would be praising her for her biculturalism and recognition of a modern NZ.
-
If non-partisan Maori voices start to ring out that they feel aggrieved by the flying of the Tino Rangatiritanga flag then I'll accept there's division. I'm currently hearing that only from individuals heavily aligned with a party that has recently proven it puts handy media soundbites waaaaaay above principle.
It's not to say that Maori are happy about it, but I'll put my optimism that a National PM just agreed to fly the TR flag over Premier House over politicial dissent for now.
-
It now seems clear that more than a few Maori don't see it that way.
There's been plenty of stock placed in the 80% approval rating it got through a series of hui - do you think these were stacked in Maori Party favour somehow?

Audrey Young: "It would be my fervent personal hope that the flying of the two flags works out well, that no one is too upset, and that it marks the start of a more hopeful sort of Waitangi Day."
Lies - it's clearly your (and Labour's) "fervent personal hope" that you can stir that "upset" because it makes for easy newspaper coverage/political wedge making.

tremendously symbolic
Could you explain how so? Out of interest tis all...

Rodney Hide who has had to be rescued twice whilst swimming across the Waitemata.
Rescued is a bit harsh, he just didn't make the time limit so they stopped him and picked him up. Say what you like about his politics and promotion of his "brand", but it's pretty rough to give him grief for failing to finish a mammoth swim event that I couldn't even contemplate starting.

the toppermost is Lawrence Arabia's Chant Darling
a. Who are, IIRC, playing in ChCh tonight and Dunedin tomorrow? Before the European tour in January which will make James and crowd almighty stars of global proportions and then you can be all like "I totally saw them at Chicks Hotel in 09"
b. Toppermost, great word. -
I thought it was Tax Cuts → ignore last 25 years of evidence → economic growth?
Shhhhh, you're spoiling the magicness!
