yeah, because that Boston photo-spread shows what you can do with good placement.

yesterdays front page Herald photo of the two teenagers at the very moment they’ve been told their mother was most likely dead, while an undeniably powerful photo, just felt a bit too much like emotional porn.

right there with you. they did the same thing in the ComPost.

    exploitative and wrong.

that's the iLEED stuff. pretty much if you pay tax, it keeps swept up into the database.

administrative data, so it's pretty accurate.

So it’s entirely possible, and legitimate, for median incomes to decrease while mean wages increase, and it’s for the same reasons

i think if they're measuring it off the HLFS or iLEED it's "incomes" as opposed to salary or wages - meaning that they ask about or measure how much you get in a year (iLEED is built off IRD data)

    but could stand corrected.

@ben damn straight. it really was the gift that kept giving. arrogant old tart.

as for the dehumidifier, can't see the problem with using the water for things like washing soiled buckets or using to clean clothes.

if you needed to distil it, put it in a pot, and boil it lightly. "catch" the steam with a lid that's too big and preferably something like glass, and angle the lid with wooden spoons so you get run-off tipping into another vessel alongside.

not exactly efficient, but if you've got unlimited electricity it'll do the trick.

  • Hard News: Welfare: Back to the Future?, in reply to Danyl Mclauchlan,

ah, so that'll be both less low-income AND more high-income.

    that's rings true

Reminds me of what Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson spouted out after 9/11 happened.

you know, this yet again reinforces my opinion that some people just need that haters lens to help them understand traumatic events?

the chicken/egg question is whether adopting the lens makes them arseholes, or vice versa?
