Ahh, moral relativism. A certain species of modern right-winger delights in using this as a pejorative, but they do not seem to know what it means. Aparently, thinking rape, tourture, and murder is wrong makes me an evil moral relativist, while thinking it's OK if an American does it imakes one a moral absolutist of impeccable standing.

I made the mistake of dipping into their Herald's feedback on teh idea that Butterworth (he's the one working for the Swiss, right?) is one of New Zealand's finest sportsmen. I wish I hadn't. It's one of those "I am embarrassed to share a country with these idiots" moments.

Yes, "we" lost it, but we are immediately pumping $10 million of our money into it.
When I think that I know research scientists who have been laid off their jobs last Christmas because of a million dollar shortfall in funding, it makes me laugh about Labour's commitment to the "knowledge economy" very bitterly indeed. Kind of like Kerry Prendergast & Co's "commitment" to the arts in Wellington.

It's a bloody interesting observation. Some of the jihadists are recruited at university level, and can't been seen to be oppressed in any conventional sense.
Monkey Dust are way ahead of you.

CORRELATION, IF IT EXISTS, DOES NOT IMPLY CAUSATION
Of course it bloody implies it. It just doesn't guarantee it.

I just have one question: if cutting off pornography and booze will stop child rape, why isn't it being done in Melbourne and Sydney? Because I bet there's a lot more kids raped in a given week in Sydney than in the back blocks of the NT.

Should I pack my thermals?
Jeans and t-shirt weather.

Aren't we all?
If by 'we' you mean 'inhabitants of the Republic of Canterbury', yes.
I liekd Iam Smith as a commentator; one of the few who seems interested in something resembling a critical approach of what's in front of him, rather than mindless boosterism. And Grant Fox was fantastic as a commentator. Five minutes listening to him will teach you more about rugby tactics than a decade watching anyone on the current team.

Barron's suggestions are ideal, as long as he wants to turn the game into Rugby League (no slur on League, but their international game is meaningless).
More like football, where there's loads of loverly lolley from Russian gansters for the players and directors and the international game is a largely irrelevant sideshow to the real business of interclub rioting.
