Re the leadership struggle - they really should give rank and file members of the party a voice
Yeah, about that: I'm told that Cunliffe is doing quite well amongst the rank and file. So that begs the question: what positions has he offered them?

I suspect he's one of those people who thinks in complete paragraphs.

Hungry, schmungry. They're just spending it all on pokies and smokes anyway. </withering>
I also hear that many of them have Sky.

Particularly if, in the case of mining on DOC land, it's literally a tree falling in the woods with no-one there to hear it.
Actually, opposition to mining was the only effective protest-based opposition against National's policy in the first term. The middle class in this country cares a lot more about trees falling in the woods than beneficiaries going hungry.

Putting the Greens/Labour together gives something close to 40% of the electorate who are immune to JK's charms.
Pretty much bang on 40% (plus Mana) of the people who voted. Than there is the small matter of the third of the electorate who didn't vote.

You never have.
Allow me to correct that oversight. I love you, Ben.

There's a good reason why the "don't be a dick" rules that cede arbitrary authority to the organizers of a Foo camp can't possibly work in politics
Have I ever told you that I love you, Ben?

But this piece of information is why I decided to write the post in the first place. Take it or leave it.
I'll leave it, because your greater argument - that Cunliffe represents "the old system" - doesn't stand up to elementary logic. Just look at who's voting for whom, for heaven's sake. Also, for this post to make a shred of sense you'd have to have it on the equally supposedly good authority that Shearer hasn't done the same. Which, considering how camp Parker moved entirely into camp Shearer, is just impossible to credit.

Heh, was worried I was being a bit subtle :)
That's why he tweeted "Dear Labour Caucus. Are you going to let your vote be bought?" Finally some of that balanced reporting we're not getting from the mainstream media!
