If there's a Captain thread-Jack here I'm unsure if I posted his sister pushing the barrow man.
Also, more ambivalently, this.
As LBGP said, this is this.

I don't know why anyone would submit to an interview if Henry might be the interviewer without having a rejoiner (witty or otherwise) in mind for if he stepped off the deep end, as he does so so often.
If anyone else wants to play, mine would be "That's one for your blog Paul" (especially with his low opinion of bloggers).

Good on you Ben.
Latest: A Henry apology - they do exist. Perhaps they hibernate or only appear for the powerful but nice to see him making an attempt.

As Tolkein studied and drew on northern European epic poetry to form his Middle Earht cultures then I think it could be argued NZ has been standing in for the locations filming may head to.

This week's Media7 moves on from our recent show about the Auckland Super City election campaign to look at local body races around the country.
Yay. If Auckland has cried for better coverage of it's assimilation reporting on local government reform has appeared extremely local top me when it is a national change...

Statistics NZ added to the chorus of voices saying the earthquake isn't a boon for the nation. In a section on the impact of the quake, the department said "looking at GDP in isolation fives a false impression that this disaster will be good for the economy."
No kidding.
The GDP data doesn't take into account the $2 billion to $4 billion worth of damage to capital assets, or that building work and consents will need to be replaced, businesses are closed and people are unable to go to work, the department said.
That seems damn telling (or tellingly damning), on a matter as important as a major disaster, Statistics Dept agree GDP isn't a good measure. So who's left backing it as our chief gauge of success?

what the hell it is that they are doing and responsible for
This is one of the issues with the changes to the Auckland councils and everyone needs to be wary of in Hide's local government reforms - no one knows although I'm sure the candidates would be willing to tell you what they'd like to do.
I've voted for those who expression concerns that matter to the way I'd like Auckland to be and especially if I've seen to them express them well for a while. I've no way of knowing whether they'll be able to do anything than raise their voice.
Next time round we may have a clearer idea of the roles thrashed out over the term, I can't help thinking in time for a certain former Local Government Minister to claim he's the best candidate for Mayor.
