And, yes, I didn't word that very well. I meant "relating to" as opposed to "in", though it was initially in this thread that I/S started claiming that using the LAVs was use of military force in line with the Defence Act.
-
Kyle, read his blog post, then get back to me. I'm not talking about what he said here.
-
I/S, without getting into a "neener neener, I was right, you were wrong" on it, that's exactly the response I said you'd get. For exactly the reasons I gave. And your hysterical tone in that post is no less supported by the facts than was your hysterical assertion in here that the PM was obligated in law to notify the House.
I've emailed you privately, too. Of all the ridiculous claims made in this thread, your statement that the military can prowl the streets with impunity is now topping them all for general idiocy, not to mention its offensive suggestions about the integrity of several of our social organs.

Monsanto has been incredibly careful in the release of it's GE products. They keep a really close eye on farmers to make sure the farmers maintain refuges that have, thus far protected against BT resistance.
You mean like how, and you even conceded this was true, they sued farmers who'd had their crops contaminated by GE wheat that hadn't come from their own farms?
I disagree with the Greens' stance on GE, as do you, but pretending that it's completely divorced from a reality of crop contamination isn't tenable. Biological systems reproduce according to their own rules, not patent law.

To me, what Lee has done is show her complete lack of understanding of the electorate she's standing for.
But the Salt family have been kicked out of Range View Road, dontchaknow? Mt Albert's back to being full of law-abiding, honest folks. It's not their fault that they're brown, but they certainly don't deserve to be lumped in with those other brown folks from south of the Tamaki estuary.

And in other news, Key has bought O'Connor's line about Tasers, right up to the little swivel thingee above the hook. The implication seems to be that Tasers would've resulted in different outcomes in the three police fatality cases in the last 12 months, which is unmitigated bullshit.
- A Taser's fuck-all use against a speeding car.
- A Taser's not going to be carried by someone who's doing covert ops. It's also not going to give you much chance against someone who's got a lethal "firearm."
- And the total lack of utility of Tasers in the Molenaar case has been done to death in this thread. -
Seriously though, she doesn't speak for this Chiwi.
Well, since she's a Korwi, that's not unsurprising :P

and unless you're totally wing-nutty I think you've got to accept they're going to run a credible investigation
Why would we accept that? National were quite happy to accuse the Police of being thoroughly in Labour's pocket whenever the Police investigated something and the outcome was not to National's liking. The Police are legislated to be independent, too. Which is more than can be said for NZOA.
What's good for the goose, etc. Though I should point out that I actually do expect an impartial investigation from both organisations, and I hope (probably in vain, though) that the outcomes will be respected by all parties.

Roundup resistant soybean and cotton are two major crops made by that evil empire Monsanto.
It's not the chemical resistance that's evil, it's the suicide genes that they've been putting into some of their crops, tying farmers into buying seed every year rather than being able to be self-sufficient after the first seed purchase.
Oh, that and their habit of suing anyone whose fields end up contaminated with their GE'd crops, on the grounds of patent infringement. Monsanto are a perfect example of why patents on life-forms are bad. Plants don't give a toss if they're under patent or not, they're going to spread through ordinary biological processes and Monsanto can just go whistle if they think lawsuits will change that.

It's been six months, and I'm already too jaded to be particularly outraged that this RTA Bill has been introduced under urgency that was, supposedly, sought for the purpose of discussing Megatropolis. That actually kinda scares me.
