Oh. Dear. Lord!! Just had a search through a few of "Bills" postings here.
He refers to this paper on " A Stupidity Based Theory of Organsiations".
H.O.L.Y. S.H.I.T.

Why not put this here:
Sciblogs “Bill” has this to say about EQCs latest Gangland Response to Angry Christchurch Citizen.
http://sciblogs.co.nz/thedismalscience/2013/03/04/mau-mauing-the-eqc-flak-catchers/
One — always, always, it is important to remember that EQC has not fulfilled the insurance policy that we all paid for. We paid money for many years in order to have full restitution within a year in the case of an earthquake. Two years after February, two and a half years after September, and still the earthquakes are costing the citizens and property owners of Christchurch. EQC did not sort things out and did not make people whole and never will.

Hard News: When "common sense" isn't, in reply to
The research that he references in the second paragraph is best demonstrated by the following video (a classic in the study of visual awareness):
It is referred to as Inattention Blindness. There are a whole swag of neat experiments
demonstrating it. The Bear and the Gorilla are but two of them.Martin Sage refers to the "B Column Effect". That is, drivers seeming to just ignore anything they pass once it is past the door pillar by their shoulder.
The other is the "A Column Effect". The door pillar to the front. I have alluded to that one in earlier posts where it can do a good job of masking cyclists that are on a collision course.
I have a hypothesis that it is a major contributor to Railway Level Crossing accidents where a regular comment of drivers - those who survive at least - swear they did not see the 500m long train!! The front of the train that invariably they end up hitting is hidden by the A pillar the complete time they are approaching the crossong.
I suspect - looking at the layout of the crossing - the Wairarapa collision where a 15 year old girl was killed may be a combination of A pillar and low sun right over the train approaching the crossing. The low sun may be obliterating the drivers vision of the train AND being in the blind spot as well. Double whammy.
The appearance that the driver may not have been intending to stop at the stop sign may enter into the equation as well of course!

Hard News: A few (more) words on The Hobbit, in reply to
Small note: 'WETA' is not a synonym for 'Peter Jackson's Film Production Company'. WETA Digital is a Visual FX company, WETA Workshop is a design and practical effects company ... I expect neither were involved in any of this directly. Wingnut is Jackson's film company.
But.
Here in the Employment Relations Act is (one of) the bits that was added after this shit fight. It NOW relates to video games. Which was way out of line IMHO. That whole industry may now be "temporary employment" in line with film making.
Now, what was that about WETA???
In this section,—
film means a cinematograph film, a video recording, and any other material record of visual moving images that is capable of being used for the subsequent display of those images; and includes any part of any film, and any copy or part of a copy of the whole or any part of a film
film production means the production of a film or video game
film production work—(a) means the following work performed, or services provided, in relation to a film production:
(i) work performed, or services provided, by an actor, voice-over actor, stand-in, body double, stunt performer, extra, singer, musician, dancer, or entertainer (whether as an individual or not):
(ii) pre-production work or services (whether on the set or off the set):
(iii) production work or services (whether on the set or off the set):
(iv) post-production work or services (whether on the set or off the set):
(v) promotional or advertising work or services (whether on the set or off the set) by a person referred to in subparagraphs (i) to (iv); but(b) excludes work performed, or services provided, in respect of the production of any programme intended initially for broadcast on television
video game means any video recording that is designed for use wholly or principally as a gameBut not Television.......interesting....
