  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery, in reply to Bart Janssen,

I wonder whether he’ll show his coworkers how low he was prepared to go for fun.

And his kids. Remember that day when he had kids?

  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery,

But guys, remember, it's just that JaJerSamAdam espouses such edgy original and controversial opinions. Like, "That John Key, he seems nice," and "Man, feminists, so humourless, amiright?"

  • Hard News: Privacy and the Public Interest, in reply to Chris Waugh,

Insisting on dragging words back to definitions that have not been in use for a very long time is a form of redefining language. Please stop.

This is also the third thread he's tried to drag this increasingly irrelevant troll on to. If people could just go on not engaging, that'd be great.

  • Up Front: Oh, God,

I've been keeping a careful eye on this, because as several people have pointed out it's bad faith arguing (SEE WHAT I DID THERE), but I figure you guys are smart enough to walk away when it's not fun.

However. I have a column on a much more delicate and sensitive subject to go up early next week, and I'm quite tempted to close this discussion thread then.

  • Speaker: Telling Our Own Tales, in reply to Stephen R,

Have you considered a career in teaching literacy?

Ha, part of one of my jobs involves trying to teach "writers" how to use apostrophes, and the surprisingly difficult How to Punctuate Direct Speech WTF Do They Teach in American Schools unit. I wish it were this easy.

Two 'enter's at the end of a paragraph, Jersamake. Two.

Hey look, the ellipses are gone! It's almost like somebody pointed it out.

  • Speaker: Telling Our Own Tales,

Before anyone gets too involved with “Jake”, I’ll just point out that’s a third shiny new account with the same viewpoint that coincidentally can’t work ellipses or paragraph breaks. I’m just sayin’. What I’m just sayin’ is that’s the same person.

events that are now over two years old

You know the situation well, right? If not the date.

Four. Four years since the start of an on-going situation which has not stopped.

  • Hard News: Privacy and the Public Interest, in reply to Judi Lapsley Miller,

I disagree – there is a very real public interest here. Outing people who hold these vile opinions about half the human race may go some way to showing how unacceptable these opinions are, and perhaps provide a heads-up to the women who have to interact with them IRL.

I have to say I agree, Judi. I think it's really important for women who may have to interact with Williams in future to know that he holds these views, for their own personal safety.

Thanks for that final beer at the Dux, Emma.

Might have been my final beer at the Dux too, Sacha. Sorry it was pissing with rain.
