You cannot even BEGIN to compare the iPad UI to Windows 7 running on a tablet or a netbook. They're doing completely different things.
Yeah, cos Windows 7 will show me websites with Flash in them, and I can tether my phone and.. and... I'm doing it with 5-6 year old technology. So no, you can't compare them.

My other half is quite perplexed about the fuss made over the iPad. When she asked "how is it any different from the tablet (HP TC1100) you've been using for the last 5 years?" I've struggled to come up with any great reason other than you use a finger rather than a stylus. I still quite like the TC1100 for all I use it for.. surfing the net, reading e-books etc. and I improved it by installing Windows 7 onto it.

I certainly can't fathom any other reason why people would want to go to Riverhead, anyway.

Here's an urban mountain bike ride we did from Rode on Wednesday night with lights on. The Arch Hill mountain bike tracks were more challenging than I had expected and now I'm going to have to go back and give them a go without "dabbing". Big King gives an alternate view of Auckland and Oakley Creek is always worth a ride.

Good weekend to be going mountain biking. Spoke magazine provides some inspiration in the form of a video of one the Rotorua trails

@Islander: We have a Maine Coon; it's an indoor\outdoor cat that doesn't have a garden so it wanders the mean streets of Freemans Bay. It's far too inquisitive for it's own good and the couple of times its gone missing we've asked around the neighbourhood and yes, it had been in every house at some stage or another. Personality a lot closer to a dog than a cat; it likes just hanging out near you but won't sit on your lap. Loves water and doesn't think twice of coming in drenched from the rain.

@Christopher Dempsey - We do indeed. Drop by sometime.

@Christopher Dempsey I think the bike you were drooling over was our Civia Loring which has bamboo guards and racks. I was down there on my french style Porteur which I made from bits.

Thanks for the props Russell...
Onehunga Cycle Path is included in this ride.
Also "Bicycle Quarterly is a magazine for avid cyclists, who enjoy their bikes, whether on a weekend ride, commuting, randonneuring, racing or touring the countryside" - Bicycling Quarterly
Oh, and we will have stock of the Maxx cycling maps (hard copies) next week @ Rode.

Those pictures of Cheonggyecheon are amazing. What a good idea doing the same to Queen St... It is rather soul-less at present.
