And there’s going to be a lot of pressure on the St Luke’s Road interchange by Western Springs.
Which they’ve managed to bollox up when it comes to the St Luke's Road offramp. It used to have a long queue turning right, and they fixed that by having two right hand turning lanes into three lanes on the bridge (1 left, 2 right).
Now the queue is on the left turn because they replaced the free-turn & merge with a give way.
Also, it doesn’t look like they are going to do anything about Duncan Maclean Link which will likely be mostly unusable turning right to get to the motorway as the new traffic islands reduce the distance available for merging.
I do agree that the scale of the Waterview Tunnel is extremely impressive. It’s certainly going to make life easier getting to the Onehunga or the airport – no more traipsing through Sandringham.
Interesting that there’s to be a new bridge crossing Oakley Creek. Nice for people out for a walk anyway – on a bike that’s one hell of a climb if the crossing is down near the creek. Will be very interested to see what becomes of it.
In the artists impression it looks nice and high.

They kept saying that on the US media clips I heard as well. But it is simply not true. At least RNZ called it the "worst shooting in modern US history".
It seems there are two threats from ISIS. In Europe, it is a direct threat from actual members, whereas elsewhere it seems to be those who a) have serious mental health issues b) access to firearms c) access to ISIS self-radicalisation materials (which I suspect even just hearing about them all the time is enough for some).
Hopefully the US are able to do something about the level of resourcing to deal with a) even if they won't deal with b) and can't deal with c).

John Key's National government does not have an agenda, but they do have a kaupapa : to transfer public wealth to the (self-evidently deserving) wealthy.
That's what they do, unless they have to capitulate to basic social programmes because their endless polling shows they have to (e.g. WFF, student loans) in order to stay in power.

Me too, I've owned in Morningside since '98. This time last week I was commenting on a GenY friend's FB post in which she was lamenting that she was realistic about her chance of owning a house in Auckland was pretty much zero.
National keep saying it's a supply issue. I say FUCK THAT, it's a demand issue, Auckland is full, nobody should be let in who isn't a citizen. After 10 years, and lots research and evidence then I'd be happy to reconsider.

But as Ben has rightly noted voting for policies that reduce the value of your home seems silly. And all of those policies WILL reduce the paper value of our homes.
This is only factor if you are planning on moving out of Auckland, as if all prices across Auckland are similarly constrained then if you move to another house in Auckland then you will not be disadvantaged.
Baby boomers planning on moving to a retirement property out of Auckland, for instance, are advantaged by Auckland prices being as high as possible.

The idea that AKL is full is laughable, really.
It's full because there aren't enough houses to go around, driving up property prices and rents and increasing poverty. Hardly a laughing matter.
I agree that intensification - in appropriate suburbs - is a good idea, and it is already in the district plan. But all you ever hear from the National party and their mouthpieces such as DPF is that it will all be solved if we "free up" more land for development. As if we have infinite land.
What we do have, however, is a functionally infinite number of people wanting to move to Auckland and we CAN change the policy settings to get them to either not come or move to the regions, which would benefit from increase populations.
