- it's bad enough that Bob Parker has thrust himself into The Bats set
Do The Bats have groupies? Hopefully with plaster casting skills? Perhaps Bob could be persuaded to 'thrust' his actual head into a bucket of alginate (Jimi Hendrix did it, your worship - think of the cred) . . . Aargh never mind, how the hell did The Bats become implicated in this pious fraud anyway?

Starless and Bilbo Black . . .
The Return of the Crimson King, too?"To begin at the beginning: It is spring, moonless night in the small town, starless and bible-black."
- Dylan Thomas, Under Milk Wood, page 1, line 1. -
Who knows where it will end up, I'm looking forward to the new Welsh Hobbit production, now retitled as Under Mirkwood ...
Starless and Bilbo Black . . .

There's a reason most columnists only write a couple of columns a week, at most.
Because all the "very smart, very knowledgeable" ones have found work as ministerial press secretaries?

This rather proves that someone doesn't actually know anything about the government or state, wihich rather diminishes the power of his observations.
This'd be the perpetually whining Mr. grower, who started out with the name-calling ("muppet", "idiot"), immediately followed by the passive-aggressive "i do hope that the kiwi blog infection does not spread too deep here at PA".
Seriously, if grower's jolly demeanour is any kind of indication of the effect his product has on the end user, he's hardly likely to be earning enough from his enterprise to be required to file a tax return.

I don't mind anyone deciding to dodge the Census, so long as they don't think that makes them some big crusading hero rather than an irrelevant delusional clown.
"Don't push your politics on me, pal." -
I signed with Telstraclear knowing full well the unpleasant experiences I'd had with their Australian parent. As you say, great infrastructure, and their relative underdog position here means they generally deliver better than Sphincterlogo.

Just so weird that they have never rolled out their cable network in Auckland.
Um, because Saturn overreached themselves and went belly-up before they got around to it? Having endured Telstra's blatant price-gouging of their largely captive Australian market in the years when Optus was on the ropes, I'm very sceptical of any claims of altruism in the corporate sector. Especially telcos.

Might be worth calling and escalating (or even making a media fuss). Taking Advantage Of Innocent Earthquake Victims is pretty bad publicity for any company, and it's not like telecomms companies usually need any more bad publicity.
Most of Telstraclear's customer service involves dealing with someone in the Philippines. Despite a message on their website stating that there would be no surcharges for earthquake-related mishaps, as of three weeks ago no-one had bothered to tell the support staff in Asia. It's not easy to talk to a human being here in NZ unless you want to buy something. Anyway, I was eventually given an assurance, linked to my customer number, that I wouldn't be charged. Seems that it didn't make it into the billing system as promised. So thanks Lucy, I'll certainly be fighting this.

...and hey any other Telstra customers out there?
Yes, got my monthly phone/internet bill yesterday. Despite assuring me last month that there'd be no moving fee for those forced from their home by the Christchurch earthquake, I've been hit with a $60 charge. After 3+ years of regularly paying my bills, that really sucks.
