  • Up Front: The Up Front Guide to Plebs, in reply to Moz,

Once it's explicitly lawful to be married to the same person after transition, hopefully that won't happen any more. (AFAIK it was never illegal to stay married, you just couldn't get married, but that is pure speculation... and it's actually much stupider than that)

One interesting thing that I realised while living in California (about 15 years ago) was that a couple of neighbours had stayed married through the transition .... apparently in California it wasn't illegal for two women to be married, just for them to GET married .... it was the state transition that was illegal, not the state itself

  • Polity: Key Derangement Syndrome…, in reply to Paul Campbell,

Really “X derangement syndrome” is simply “if you don’t agree with X you are crazy” – possibly the most glaring example of an ad-hominem attack you can imagine

Interestingly applying my argument above to "Key derangement syndrome derangement syndrome" results in a diferent result than one might think

Boing-boing also reports on "corrupt misogynist strongman John Key" ...... "I'll stay in TPP's economic suicide-pact even if the USA pulls out"

Yeah sure, I went to my wife's citizenship ceremony - she swore to the current crown and all her legal heirs .... we wondered out loud whether of not she could add "except for Charlie", several of the people around us agreed that that would be a good thing

here here - I want a new flag, I want the Union Jack gone - but not this flag and not this way, by a committee of those most unsuited for the task, and not that shade of National blue - I'm voting "no" too and not because I want to keep the current flag.

My favourite flag at the moment is simply the existing flag with the union jack gone, I don't understand why that wasn't in the last ballot, it would have won hands down, maybe that was why

  • Legal Beagle: Voting in the Flag Referendum,

strictly speaking Hawaii isn't a 'country' (though some still consider it illegally occupied territory)

  • Polity: Leaving only footprints,

I’m not sure of the details but at the time “freedom walking” was a protest against the track being closed to ordinary trampers (of course this was 20 years before the National Parks act was signed)

Now days it just means going without a guide
