What a shame there are only those two alternatives, eh? Because clearly we could never ever spend less than we earn.
Anyway, there's sleight of hand there. As I understand it, the Canadians were not proposing to provide new capital to fund growth in the business. They merely wish to own a chunk of the existing company and hence its income. That kind of investment does absolutely zip for us. All it does is direct a stream of income out of the country for good.

Yeah, starting time has crept from 8 or so in the 80s to 11 now, for whatever reason, and it pisses me right off. In the meanwhile, the only thing to do is to have a nap before you go out.

I've met hundreds of people who think there's large groups of people out there who believe in grand conspiracy theories, and none who actually do.

Nope. Much to the annoyance of the psychoanalysts, it looks like the long let's-talk-about-your-childhood-trauma stuff doesn't do anything easily measurable, but CBT and related approaches do.

Both of which I'd guess are less effective than the Prozac.
You'd guess that, but certain approaches, eg Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, in fact do seem to as effective as drugs (and even more effective when combined with them).
