Southerly: I Fell Down, in reply to
I cut the circuit boards out on the mini mill using open source software from MIT.
I teach PCB design at the local Makerspace (I can get most people up and productive in an hour or two). Most people don't have access to a mill, but these days cheap proto boards from China are readily available - there are many places that fab you full spec 2 sided boards - my current fave is:
10 boards for $14 including shipping means you can afford to screw up as you learn (and learning to learn by screwing up is an important sklill!). The bulk boards I have made to teach kids soldering cost under 50c.

So I heard a little of this on the radio, I don't listen to parliament much, English moved the first reading of the bill ... I assumed it would be read out loud .... but no, 20 seconds later he moved the second reading, not even enough time for MPs to read it quietly to themselves .... why do they bother?

actually I just checked with the source, apparently money for food is not usually required to be paid back but money for other things (getting a car fixed etc) is - and it comes out of your benefit, often at a rate that's too high (she says how much is negotiable if you know you can do that)

My partner is a social worker, I guess the whole WINZ-loan thing is not a surprise to me - but it goes beyond housing .... show up at WINZ hungry, unable to feed the kids, and they'll offer you a loan too ..... and I'm pretty sure payback comes out of your ongoing benefit too.

certainly the tiptoeing around this issue over the past couple of years has had a lot to do with the circumstances (and the coroner has been MIA in this issue), it allowed the council to essentially sweep much of the issue under the carpet and not go after the (connected) people to recover the vehicles in question
