I think I've said this before, but one of the things I appreciate about Lorde's better songs are the great electro sounds with her awesome alto. I get really tired of wispy high-pitched female vocals with grubby electronica (I love Massive Attack - they're guilty too).
Lorde is a refreshing change. Also Ladi6 with the stuff she did with Shapeshifter et al, and Tali.
Love the Stevie Nicks article too.

That's right.
Although I suppose the case could be that if a property is sold to distribute that part of the estate amongst multiple beneficiaries, that's when the tax could (unintendly?) come into play. If the property is transferred to a single beneficiary, then no impact there.

Er, I don't think looking after the environment and "blue-collar" workers are matters that need to be tackled separately.
Also, can we please stop using the term "blue collar"? It excludes all those people working in service industries - cleaning, cooking, call centres - who aren't on the factory line or in trades, but who often get even shittier wages and conditions.

The strange media story tellers we have love the easy story of pinko socialists versus bizness savy normal nu zilders.
And that's exactly the narrative that many members of my family fell for. My mother was telling me that the "hounding" of Collins over the Oravida affair was just a beat-up and had no relevance to her ability to do the job. She would have felt even more strongly about the Whaleoil and NSA revelations, which aren't relevant to "ordinary people", and are just an excuse for lefties to pile on to the current govt.
Despite the fact she's a cook, working full time at the age of 67 for the "award" wage (no more than that), living in rented accommodation in South Auckland. Nope, the current govt (somehow) does a "good job" of taking care of her.

Certainly better at retaining such party support as their was compared to senior figures like Goff et al.

I will say that I think it's very true that there is a perception that the Labour parliamentary "branch" has been hijacked by a bunch of out of touch wankers.
But I personally think of many of those who did their apprenticeship during or in the aftermath of Rogernomics, which is when Labour lost its way. I lost what trust I had in them after that, although obviously they were the better of the two evils.
Yes, Helen got in power because she did unite the parliamentary section, and was an amazing horse trader in the new MMP system. Now that this able - not flawless - leader has been lost, the quality of the post-Rogernome candidates is showing through.
That's where fingers should be pointed. And yes, distractions along the identity politics debates should be met with resounding yawns, and the message that Labour is about a fair go for EVERYONE. Higher minimum wages help everyone, gay, brown, factory workers, service industry. State houses help everyone at the bottom of the pile and take power away from rentier landlords. Gay, straight, brown, factory workers with two jobs, people unable to work...
Stop throwing each other under the bus, and get back to "power to the people". ALL the people.
