  • Hard News: Moving on, in reply to Farmer Green,

One of the all time favourites of farmer green , he not having had a TV in the house for nearly 40 years now.

Yup. Those of us from the agrarian sector in previous lives know the beauty of sunrise on our backs in the east facing cowsheds and the heavy breathing and snuggling warmth of salivating moo cows. The clock is a crock. Sunset means dinner and sleep. Readying the frail body for the morrow.

How sad not to know how the rest of the world works, looks, lives, loves and exists…….

  • OnPoint: Legal Context,

“At rest” huh? So, traveling through space at a gizillion miles per hour counts as not at rest? I’ll give Einstein a call on that one.

So if I had 2, 3 or many more “clouds” that constantly shuffled my data around so it was never “at rest”, would that count? What constitutes the “minimum time” of “at rest”? It might be an interesting discussion.

Does a letter sitting in a letter box constitute it being “at rest”? In the postie’s bike bag? Sitting on my table unopened? Opened, read and put on the table?

Are the words sitting on the screen in front of me “at rest”? Oops…they’ve gone again….

    Bizarre. And its a nightmare.

  • Hard News: Event Season, in reply to BenWilson,

Since the timing of the seasons is opposite on the different hemispheres, there’s no way the start point can be universal.

Well the northern hemisphere WAS the universe once. There in lies the beginning of it all.The "points" of the "year" were obviously the northern and southern most movements of the sun -midsummer and midwinter. it didn't take much to divide that by two and get the solstices. Bingo. Four seasons in one day... er... year. (It's not NZ).

The problem was, once the "Discoverers" of the world came upon other cultures who - shock horror - used their sun but not the same dates as the discoverers, then the power and rage of religion frowned upon these heathens. Some changed. Some didn't.

    Here endeth the lesson. Awomen.

And for all us athiests, it is good to see that Frank has opened the door to our salvation. Ta. I can continue to live life to my unconscionable fullest.

"Pope Francis assures atheists: You don’t have to believe in God to go to heaven".

  • Hard News: Event Season,

Old farmer brown here is mixing up the scientific process.

He is framing the "outlier scientific opinion" as the climate denier. Because there are folk out there who consider that climate warming has a very high probability of occurring, the denier is trying to form a "consensus". They are having a bit of a battle at the moment. Lack of sufficient (ie none at the moment) solid evidence seems to be a bit of a problem.

However, what Bart is suggesting (I think) is the way science moves to a different beat when something profound, interesting and very likely is against the current consensus on a "certain scientific description" has a startling effect on that consensus. Then, when others begin to play with this new piece of information and find that it might actually explain the"certain scientific description" in a better way, then a new consensus - eventually - is found.

Farmer brown is trying to bypass that system. And that is the toxic bit.

So you’re not down with this kind of thing?

No, I'm more thinking along the lines of some bastard dropping shells on me (crisis) and wanting to be somewhere else.

Even clicking you heels together and thinking of Kansas might be as useful as reading a bible.....

    Funded by you the taxpayer.

No, they’re not. Read that article carefully.

GAH!!!!!!! And I remember reading that first time through that now too!!!! But as far as comfort goes, I would be cursing and swearing for allowing myself to be in such a position where a book (!) is alleged to be of some use.

Apols on that particular important fact.

And like. Bibles being issued to NEW ZEALAND Army recruits? Like.

Like. Wow “In moments of crisis, pulling out a Bible can provide our service men and women with reassurance and strength, he said.”

Thank CHRIST I will have protection when having someone else’s godly person shooting at me!!!

F&^king disgusting. Funded by you the taxpayer.

A wag has just walked in. He wants to know if they are fire proof. Hahaha.

Just to reiterate the point to NZDF, Key and the other warmongers. This is no different than gearing up muslim soldiers to kill the infidels.

I had something of an epiphany a year or two ago when I realised that the function of HR was not to act in any way whatsoever in the interests of the employee, but rather to act as an enforcement arm for management to prevent uppity employees from any sort of boat-rocking.

    BINGO!!!!!!!!!! Bingo Bingo Bingo ! ! !
