You’d almost think the overall priority wasn’t really to get everyone a job.
The constant pool of unemployed keeps wages low, hooray!

It’s about punishment and humiliation Danielle.
So gross. The clearly deliberate loss of documents is all part of the punishment package, I assume.

The twenty job applications a week rule is blowing my mind. What a waste of time and energy for everyone. When I was looking for work for two months late last year I think I may have applied for... ten to fifteen jobs, total? There's absolutely no point in applying for things for which you are woefully under- or over-qualified. That's pure ideological hoop-jumping.

Who’s even disputing that? I’m just saying that a general grump about CSRs in non-essential industries getting to go home at 5pm is, I believe, misguided.
(ETA: everyone appears to think I'm still talking about Kiwibank. Only one of my posts in this thread was about Kiwibank. Topic? What topic? :) )

I’ve just re-entered the “walk out at five” (or six in my case) workforce after some years working from home, and let me assure you that when I leave my workplace it is completely delightful not to give one solitary damn about work until I return the next morning. No one gets paid a premium in customer service roles, so if the one pathetic “perk” of the job is that you don’t have to think about it outside working hours, I say more power to them. And me.
ETA I am willing to bet that there are not nearly as many people who WANT to work odd hours as there are those who are FORCED to work odd hours. For crap money.

Nothing gives me phone rage more than a ‘we’re closed’ message at 5.01pm.
Think about that person going home to eat dinner with their kids. It might help.

I had a number of mutual Facebook friends with Andrew Tidball. It was interesting watching the numbers drop down in the first 24-36 hours after the Spinoff piece was published.

I've travelled overseas using a Kiwibank credit card with no problems. Maybe this is more a case of specific cockups than a general issue?

I love that I get a shout-out in this post as some sort of Person Who Understands These Kids Today, and I am FORTY-ONE YEARS OLD. I am not the droid you’re looking for! :D
My favourites of the day were indeed Action Bronson (the world’s best Ghostface Killah tribute act!) and the sublimely dumb and enjoyable Girl Talk. I’ve discovered as I get older that earnest guys with guitars (ie The National) really have to work hard to win me over and in a stadium setting I like things to be big and stupid and fun and beat-heavy.
Can we talk about the food? The food was great!! I had squid from Beirut for lunch and a taco from Mexico for dinner and they were both excellent. A far cry from soggy chips in festival days of yore. Look at my squid! Look at it! It has STRIPY BEETROOT!
