Hard News: Unwarranted risk, in reply to
that blog post is six days old. why haven't Auckland Councilors put up a resolution demanding that ACIL and POAL comply with their obligation under the Local Government Act 2002? the only sacking that needs to be done is by Auckland Council of non-complying ACIL directors.

candid nature
yes. Graham Henry has always been like that. when not speaking "on the record". self-deprecating. cut to the chase. that's his style. even when talking to a small group of third-formers in a PE swimming period on a cold morning in March. three or so decades ago. funny the things one remembers.

just about fell off my chair laughing at that one, Joe. kind of like the way my father used to laugh.
p.s. would love to see Te Rerenga Wairua sometime. maybe the powers that be can organise a mini-festival of NZ animated films to tour Japan. big screen, loud speakers. that's what the film deserves.

thanks for putting up that poster. i was too young to go to Mainstreet (R20), and i had no idea who New Order were (but was about to find out in a couple of months time). but i remember those posters plastered in a row on a building site fence up Khyber Pass. i looked at those posters through the bus window many times, wondering what it all meant...

so with no threshold ALCP would have got one seat?

recommend removing the "one seat rule" and may well also recommend lowering the 5% threshold.
yes, that would be good. getting rid of the "one-electorate-seat exemption" and halving the 5% threshold to 2.5% is the way to make things fairer and encourage more people to vote, imho.

0.6% of the total vote counted would have been 13,544.
UF got 13,443 party votes. -
no one got the electorate seat exemption from the 5% threshold this time. that exemption should be chucked out. the threshold should be halved to 2.5% imho.

not sure what you mean by this. United Future were nowhere near getting a list seat even if there were no threshold.
UF: 13,443 party votes
total party votes counted: 2,257,336
divide that by 121 to get: 18,655
Act got exactly what they deserved this time, from a proportionality point of view.
