This is London's busiest bike track, apparently, positively bulging at the seams. Quite encouraging stuff.

Great post, Russell! It's the little things, eh.
I noticed during the recent consultation on the redesign of our local Pt Chev "village green" that the new proposed design takes away the well-used and very sturdy racks outside the library in favour of installing a ramp, but offers no obvious replacement for bike parking.
I'm hoping there's a brilliant solution in the works for that; the long blank wall of the pharmacy would be an excellent spot for a line of sheltered bike racks. (As seen in this pic of the random pair of roadside bike racks, which are almost never used, and which took quite a beating from a runaway car earlier this year... )

Last minute voting details (from an email from CityVision). Looks like you can drop off papers in person till Friday 5pm at 198 Federal St. And if you didn't get voting papers, you can phone and organise a special vote.
All power account holders in the AECT district covering the old Auckland City Council area, Franklin and Papakura are eligible to vote. Ballot papers must be posted no later than Wednesday 28 October to ensure being counted in the election that officially closes on Friday 30 October. Voting papers can be delivered in person to the polling place at Election Services, Level 2, 198 Federal St, Auckland 8:30am to 5:00pm.
If power account holders did not receive voting papers it is still possible to arrange a special vote by calling Election Services on 09 973 5212.

Firmly taking off my bike helmet and putting on my cultural studies musings hat for a second...
They say it takes two traumas to make a trauma - that a major traumatic experience is only truly felt when a second one comes along to reawaken it.
I do sometimes wonder if the visceral strength of some of the opposition to Skypath (and that might include the video above) is a delayed reaction to What Motorways Hath Wrought on our lovely city in general, and what the bridge did to Northcote Point/Sulphur Bay/ St Mary's Bay/etc in particular.
It's as if the bridge has quietly become invisible and inaudible over the years, and Skypath has suddenly rendered it apparent again, in all its monstrous non-negotiability.
(Related, perhaps: over those decades, the gradual moving away of many locals at both ends of the bridge who fought really hard to unlock the full democratic benefit of the AHB connection for their neighbourhoods and for all Aucklanders?)
