One thing the Aussies consistently beat us at is media coverage and water-cooler discussion of women's sport. It's REALLY noticeable.
I was told (some time ago so correct me if this isn't accurate) by a former Black Fern that even though much of the funding isn't earmarked for either men's or women's rugby, by far the bulk of it goes to the guys - right down to the All Blacks getting a fresh jersey every time they came off the field while the Black Ferns got two for their entire World Cup campaign. Which they won, in spite of having to run on in wet jerseys that hadn't dried from being hand-washed in the hotel handbasin after the previous day's game.

My friend's partner took her to Paris (from NZ) for her 40th. This turned out to be a Very Good Move.

Am I missing something here? The abatement threshold for the student allowance is $180 - considerably more generous than that for the DPB. Is tertiary study so much more important than merely raising kids? I'd love to see the policy rationale behind the disparity.

Joanna: you are tough as fuck because we have different experiences than men do. And good on you too. And yeah, it does have to be all the time. Sorry about that. Don't ask me how to cope with it, cos after 30 years of practice I still don't have it down.
Sometimes its not the big things like rape that scare me, its the smaller scale experiences such as having to argue my case for pay parity (Are we there yet? Are we there yet?), or having to assess whether my outfit is "appropriate" for the occasion. We're acting like a powerless minority when in fact we have a slight majority. But like Joanna I don't see what I can do about it.
