No, it's because she's stark raving bonkers. But she's not the only one in the House, so she feels at home there.

And let's not forget this is the woman who wanted to ban DHMO, dihydrogen monoxide. She's a well-meaning fool.Ryall was just nasty, but that's no surprise.
And Copeland, well, the sooner he's gone, the better the place will be.
This Bill did appear to be too heavy-handed, but I'm not sure if it would have been in practice. Labour mishandled it, but I have no respect for Ryall, Copeland and Kedgely.

I remember being taken by my mother to Oliver's in Parnell Rd when I was about 12 (early 70s) for my first cappucino.
Espresso machines have been in NZ since at least the 50s, they just seemed to go out of fashion when instant coffee and filter machines came in I suspect.

Given his family history with drugs it isn't surprising that Anderton reacts this way, but why a senior politico is allowed to foist his personal morality on the rest of the country al because of what happened to one of his kids is really stupid.

Yes, things are bad in many of these communities, but the causes are far deeper than this sort of idiotic response can deal with.

but then, if we accept that people are allowed to change their appearance in so many other ways - teeth whitening, implants etc, it's going to be hard to convince people about this being wrong.
I predict the argument will go
"White people like artificial tans - why can't dark people get artificial white skin?"
