One other apsect of course is the nubmer of ex All Blacks who are now coaching overseas
All good illustrations of market forces in rugby and the fact that NZ does a great line in the global rugby export (and knowledge) economy.
But does anyone else think its a bit rich of Ted and Co to give McAlister a hard time for going to ply his trade overseas on a bigger wage after their own coaching experiences?

There is the oft repeated story (actually captured on video) of the superstar UK DJ who, two minutes before he was about to earn his $40k fee in Auckland, was offered a short white line of something by somebody and partook, only to immediately pass out (it was not what he thought it was, more fool he). Somebody else had to play the set, although said 'star' still kept his cheque.
Gawd, not heard that story before, but does sound very rock'n'roll doesn't it - if its OK for Bobby Gillespie its OK for me etc yada.
Musician or idiot? - to steal a bumper sticker from another decade, there is a fine line between fishing and standing like an idiot on the side of a river. S'pose if you have genuine talent you can get away with it, but geez I bet the promoter on that particular night would have had more than a strong opinion about it.

The man has some skills but decidedly went for the bucks at some stage.
Heh - I have very fond memories of Mr Cook, seen at the Dome at the old Sydney Showgrounds in the late 90's.
He certainly has (had?) a genuine skill at getting hundreds of people to dance-like-maniacs, it was the dead-set hottest (temperature wise) gig I've ever seen, forcing people to either largely disrobe to stay on the dance floor, or join the throng of people forced to step outside and steam.
I've completely lost touch with the DJ scene now, but at the time (late 80's to late 90's) we were all completely convinced it was a genuine musical art-form, and boy did those superstar DJ's get revered.

Hmmm, the plot thickens, so with Ireland now top of Group Death with a bonus point win, if Ireland beats Argentina (entirely possible) and then loses to France (quite probable based on 6 Nations form), that will leave France, Ireland, and Los Pumas all equal on wins, and dependent on bonus points and differentials to sort out who goes through. And as France got a bonus point for losing within 7 against Argentina, they could still easily finish top of their group. Confused?, I am.

Lovely to see Mehrts back on the silverscreen - I think he has a future doing the McEnroe style former great providing insight and wit to the current game. And he takes a lot of the deathly seriousness out of the NZ game as well - a community service.
Obviously extremely early days and weaker opposition, but the Wallabies are already making me nervous as they start perfecting their patented World Cup defensive screen and mechanical game plan. Nice refereeing job from George as well.
And a possible quarter-final against a cornered France takes a few more centimetres off my cuticles as well.
Please, please, please ..... (its going to be a long tournament)

Heh - yes, good call, whereas I clearly ...
Hmmm, can't see Los Puma's springing an upset though, methinks that canny Laporte has the Frenchies brewing nicely and they will win their group in a canter.
.... have a very limited future as a professional tipster.

Simon G, love your work.

The nadir of selfishness.
Shouldn't that be zenith of selfishness? (pendantry ahoy)

and the Wallabies George Smith crunching Marshall in a very late tackle
Causing Meg to oscillate wildly .....

Here we go ....

Justin Justin Justin, there is a fine difference between providing 'good copy' and making yourself look like a dork.
I wouldn't be too upset if Flavell gets the call-up - now he's had a chance for a rest he would not let anyone down.
Bit of a sporting wonderland at the moment - if the stars align nicely we will in about 7 weeks time see AB's getting the worlds biggest sporting monkey off their backs, the Warriors winning the NRL, and Liverpool still top of the table :)
