Thanks for doing the yards on this backstory Russell. It seems Key's teflon stays intact precisely because of the copious amount of muck it has to deflect. It appears to actually convert new muck into more teflon.
In other words, the more BS he promulgates, the harder it is to identify.
How's that crowd-funded Kennygram looking?

Muse: A C!#& and Balls Story, in reply to
We do have the night market which is quite different
True! Actually, it's a must.
Ahhh, Cunliffe as Santa. Well, quite. Would you rather Tim Groser? John Tamihere?

As a local I feel like the kid falling asleep at the dinner table, when suddenly the grown ups mention my name. Yep! Sure! Uh-huh! New Lynn! Yeah! Goin’ off!
the new shared spaces are in and operating, but it’s just not an area people have been used to thronging to
Sadly true. I think while the transport hub’s a good thing for commuters, the whole precinct is still surrounded by thousands of hectares of multi-generational, PT-deprived petrol addicts.
So if I want to visit Alien Vinyl (or even Gregor’s studio) on Veronica St after visiting say, Lynmall or the Library, I have to battle a labyrinth of car-oriented urban design: car parks with no footpaths, main roads, complicated intersections …
I just hope the cineplex will help to create a decent enough destination to pump a bunch of bodies into the shared spaces and *ahem* laneways.
What would be cool is if New Lynn had something like Waterfront Auckland, who could not only plan the development, but also coordinate and promote the social events in the neighbourhood. The New Lynn santa parade just ain’t gonna do it.

Speaker: Why all the fuss over six trees?, in reply to
Thanks Jolissa. Applying my battle scarred self to billable tasks, but will digest this along with my pain killers this evening.

Oops, unfinished sentence. The needs that the workers fully agree about are for traffic management to be extended to peds and cycles.

Keep a safety eye out for the guy ...
Kevlar
Good luck, kiddies!
And ... I came off my bike this morning, right there. East bound beside Western Springs Park. The traffic control allows no room for bikes. I got on the footpath. Workers up ahead. I got on the tram line. Girl in uniform towing boy on skateboard occupying entire track.
Me (cheerfully grinning like a fool): Keep left!
Them: *blank*Forced to the edge, my front wheel dipped off the concrete. Splat. The road workers were incredibly decent, and fully agreed they place needs
I've written to everybody, including AT requesting additional traffic management, extended to peds and cycles.
Feeling rather coincidental, if not ironic, and somewhat grazed, right now.

Thanks for the post Rhys and all for the discussion. And please, keep a safety eye out for a guy in an old black Music Month T shirt and a blue Avanti as he navigates 3 lanes of cars, 1 lane of busses and a pedestrian crossing.

Speaker: Why all the fuss over six trees?, in reply to
Oh, great, thanks Sacha.
Mmm. That does indeed look a bit *whatevs*. I thought maybe it was more to do with the motorway than Gt Nth Rd.
Any links to how AT's version of it?
Ian Dalziel: where's Fay Weldon when you need her?

All good suggestions, which I make regular use of (and no problems with a toll). But - what with me living in Titirangi and all - sometimes it's the car. Sometimes I can dodge that road. Sometimes I can't.
But as a regular user of that road in all its modes (including the motat tram!) I kinda need the numbers in the cost/benefit before I can get involved in the tree debate.
Just hoped someone here might have them.
