i think what we're missing is the importance of rite of passage. 21st used to be about recognising adulthood, but these days they're actually about getting loaded.
to stand and be told by your family that you are a (wo)man, with the responsibilities of that status, is something we lack in ongoing glorification and perpetuation of youth.
oh, and get the fck off my grass.

you will doubtless be familiar with this then - growing up neo-nazi in germany.
anyone to hazard a guess when we can start suppressing hate speech again? can we just drop the pretence of loving these fckers to their “inevitable” demise? :)

In the back of my mind have been some fears that real life could turn up and bite me.
it did me. i had someone contact my employer and complain about internet useage. would love to know who it was.
i was working with data at the time, and was mostly running long SQL queries. time spent waiting for results was filled with internet.
whomever you were who tried to have me sacked, fcuk you.

Windschuttle, beloved as he is by the Summer Symposium crowd, realises very little. He's just another bigoted hack getting by on bad scholarship courtesy of people who want to believe
people such as john howard. windschuttle is the intellectual powerhouse behind the phrase "black armband view of history", and actively denies the holocaust of aboriginal people - particularly in tasmania.

on topic of the norwegian terrorist, a norwegian friend of many years ago linked to this.
school friend of the terrorist talks about their childhood.
I lived in London when it slammed 7 June 2005. The perpetrators had then at least more reason to be angry with the society around him, and minority youth with poor prospects for careers in class society the United Kingdom. He has had every opportunity. As far as I know never lacked anything. Not been victim of some injustice from society. Where does this hatred come from?

When you try and define the culture positively, the terms generally seem to become a bit imprecise, or so broad as to be meaningless.
my experience too. in the end i resorted to a subjective-acceptance. i need to be able to claim that i am something, i.e. "i am a kiwi", and have "kiwis" agree with me.
hence, che saying: "i am a londoner" might fly with some drunk americans i'm lying to in a pub, but will not fly with anyone who actually knows what a londoner is.
i make a subjective claim, they accept it. therefore, i am what i say i am.
