  • Speaker: An Open Letter To David Cunliffe, in reply to jh,

    Labour men are eunuchs.

I suppose someone who uses "PC" unironically is not going to realise how offensive that is, but, um, it's really offensive.

  • Hard News: The sole party of government, in reply to Stephen Judd,

The whole thing was a massive fucking Slater-initiated beatup

And all our angsting about what precisely was so terrible about Labour and the Greens seems to be completely ignoring this aspect of things. I'm sure that Labour did, in fact, suck in many respects, but what did we just spend a month reading and discussing, people? How the Nats used Slater and colluded with some of our media to smear political opponents! I mean, call me crazy, but until that's sorted all our coulda shoulda woulda seems a bit forest-for-the-trees.

  • Hard News: The sole party of government, in reply to Vaughan little,

Yeah. Man ban is bullshit. I’d have been happy with a target of at least a third of caucus members being female.

    That's magnanimous. I wouldn't have been.

PS, peeps: the John Oliver clip is from Last Week Tonight, not the Daily Show.

  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery,

What kills me is that he wasn't even very good at being a troll. If he hadn't done such a stupid megaflounce he could have kept baiting everyone for months or years while dancing on the line of acceptability. But no! Bad at arguing AND bad at trolling. Poor guy.

  • Hard News: Vision and dumbassery, in reply to Jake Starrow,

There are like four posts up there talking about how personality-driven politics are inherently bad for democracy and therefore Cunliffe's personal qualities are less important than the policies each party espouses, so feel free to engage with that argument any time you like.

You're just not very good at this. Have you considered taking up another hobby? Macramé? Interpretive dance?
