Parks & Recreation might be my fave tv show of the year. Aziz Ansari!!!!
Hey thanks for the David Dallas link. I freakin love that tune, it's been rattling around in my head since seeing it 5 times in a row at the Teletext Music Awards soundcheck.

Kind of a funny year for music. All your picks are great (especially your choice of dinner time reverie!). But as I am a list addict I will hijak the comments with my own top 5.
1. Ariel Pink's Haunted Grafitti - Before Today
Round & Round; snob rock single of the decade?2. Connan Mockasin - Please Turn Me Into The Snat
The king of the new wave of kiwi psyche prog3. Lord Echo - Melodies
Best NZ reggae/roots album ever, hands down.4. Dan Kelly - Dan Kelly's Dream
Bindi Irwin Apocalypse Jam5. Eno & Harmonia - Tracks & Traces
Finally released after 30 odd years of gestation. Electronique performers. -
I want to visit 'The Farm'. They have giraffes! And Jim Hopkins!
Dick Frizzell donated some art works to a Labour party fundraiser this year. Maybe he is hedging his bets? Or maybe Frizzell wines didn't really sponsor the event, but were just added to the list to make the event look better?

I feel let down by Ms Tucker. I have defended her stomping drumming style to many a paradiddling drum snob and this is how she repays me?!
Rand Paul = the love child of Ayn Rand and Ru Paul.
....Yes thats right tweet friends, I just repeated my own joke. So what?! Shut up. -
There are so many international acts coming to NZ this summer it almost makes putting on shows a bit scary. But people still seem to be coming for local acts. The Powerstation is a fantatic venue from a performers perspective, they are total pro's; great PA, good rider, good security, good pack in options. And for a punter, there isn't a bad place to watch in the building. The closest thing Wellington has is the SFBH, which only fits 500 people (but is still a good venue I think).
Ahhh gigs.

I don't know why, but I started watching more of The Daily Show when it moved to the Comedy Channel. Maybe it was because it was on at a more consistent time (was it?). To be honest I have gone from someone who watches a lot of C4 to practically none. I just can't stand those Laguna Beach type programs and I kinda drifted away.
I think the aiming C4 at a slightly older audience will probably see me watching more of it! I totally agree with the suggestion if putting Daily Show/Colbert Report on straight after Nightline. That would be a very strong combo.
What they really need to do is get HBO channels on air within a few days of them being broadcast in the states. Like Prime was almost doing with True Blood.

Quite frankly, Fran can piss off the China.
Did Fran forget to rinse off the soap after doing the dishes?
...I'm sorry, that was a pointless, stupid dad joke...

if we are to have the filmic version of a Chinese sweatshop, then I think we need to go back to the drawing board.
This is just so untrue. I worked on LOTRs in 3 different departments in 1999/2000. In every case I was basically filling in, and entirely the bottom rung no experience guy. Doing one or two days here and there in between my regular cafe job was luxury. Long hours sure, but the pay was pretty good for unskilled labour as far as I'm concerned.
I know lots of people who became much more involved than me and certainly the way film worker contracts were so open ended could be stressful. The hours could be insane, and sometimes you'd be working out in the mud and rain all night and so on. So yes, sometimes the crew felt like they were doing a pretty hard job. But I they were always fed well, paid well and kept safe. Furthermore, I remember vividly how much people wanted to work on this films because they wanted to be part of something big.
The use of the word 'sweatshop' is ridiculous.

Oh dear I ranted at Liesha Ward Knox about how unprofessional I thought the MEAA have behaved. It didn't go down very well that's for sure!
...I had no idea she was associated with the union at all, this was a few weeks ago...I feel a bit rude now!
